Many families visiting Arras loved staying at Le Dome, Le Pavillon du Golf d'Arras, and Najeti Hôtel de L'univers.
Najeti Hôtel de L'univers, Le Pavillon du Golf d'Arras, and Hotel Moderne got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Arras.
The wartime history of Arras and the region is an obvious worldwide tourist attraction. The central square and city architecture is very attractive and we may well be spending time there. We previously visited the mines from WWI and were very interested in the story. Also good for access La Coupole and Eperleques, as an engineer I found those fascinating.
I think we choose the wrong time of week and month to visit Arras. We arrived on the Sunday and stayed until Tuesday. Most restaurants and shops were closed both Sunday and Monday so we had very limited choice to eat out. Tip for those travelling in February, do some research about what is open and book any restaurants in advance of your stay to guarantee a table. We would definitely return and would like to try Arras in the summer months, when I'm guessing the squares would be bustling and more lively!
Lovely to wander around the Saturday market in the Grande Place and Place des Heros. Excellent restaurants and bars in this part of town. Arras is a good location for visiting Vimy, and the Thiepval memorial and the wonderful Museum of WW1 in Péronne. Also the new Commomwealth War Graves Centre.
Main squares are fantastic. Christmas market amazing. Some incredible churches, building and architecture. Had a meal in a restaurant in the one of the squares, not good and very expensive. Its supposed to be an American diner type of place but.....was the only place we could get in as most other restaurants were full/closed. Visit the Wellington Tunnels, amazing, also venture out to the war graves and cemeteries etc. unbelievable how many lots their lives. La Couple is 30 minutes towards St Omer, only weeks away from launching the first V4 towards London.
As we chose to visit during the festive period, there was a large Christmas market in the town centre. This was just a few minutes from our apartment, so we were able to visit it every day. The atmosphere was lovely, there was no shortage of activities for us to enjoy and the locals were welcoming and very helpful. All around the town, there were cafes and shops for us to visit which was lovely. I would definitely return and would recommend for anyone looking for a short city break or family holiday. Arras is perfect for everyone.
Arras has an old world charm, meshed with the new. We stayed there to do a World War One tour of battlefields. This location was ideal. We didn’t have any leftover time to explore too much in Arras, we did the Wellington Tunnels though which was very interesting. Christmas markets were being set up and would look amazing when finished. Definitely consider staying in Arras if it fits your plans. You never know what you could discover, plenty of history. Good variety of eating places.
