We are one night in the restaurant, excellent food.
Lovely staff.

If you like modern history, there's all the museums,...
If you like modern history, there's all the museums, memorials and cemeteries for WWII (don't miss the War Reporters memorial). If you like ancient history, there's the cathedral, the Tapestry and the MHAB museums. If you like shopping, there's a street market and lovely little boutiques. If you like eating out, the only difficulty is choosing where to go (so much choice). Bayeux is a small city with an impressive history which is made extremely accessible and enjoyable for its visitors. The centre of town is compact and almost traffic-free and good local bus services will get you to the nearby beaches. We had a great time and will certainly go back.

Bayeux is a lovely medieval city and is great for walking around taking in the sights. However it rained almost continuously which didn't help. If you wish to travel to the D Day beaches this is a great jumping off point but the city has its own reminders such as the British cemetery with over 4,000 graves and a very informative museum of the whole Normandy campaign.

Host or concierge did not show up with key. Had difficulty finding which unit it was and only deduced it by looking at several photos. Cheap furnishings. Cleaning materials inside shower. Patio/terrace unusable and unsafe.

I am trying to update my review of La Cour Royale but the site is not letting me. I answered no breakfast - this was an answer to a Booking.com question and not a put down on the accommodation - it was a flat and I did not expect breakfast. I also put a rating of 5 out of ten for staff because this was a flat and I didn’t expect staff! I hope this clears this up. It was an excellent place to stay and would like to again.

The city is beautiful and easy to get around in by foot.
The city is beautiful and easy to get around in by foot. We enjoyed seeing the Cathedral and The Tapestry as well as a couple restaurants and an awesome pastry shop.
Taxi service is limited (allow plenty of time to await a taxi). Uber service did not exist.
Since we were traveling by car, having a secure parking area was important. However, we were charged extra ($16 euros) to park our car in their closed lot. The location was very good and made it easy to walk to city locations of interest in the city such as the Bayeux Tapestry. Travel to the Normandy Beaches was easy but required a car. Breakfast was good, however, some foods (like scrambled eggs) were taken by earlier guests before we arrived in the breakfast room and were not replenished for us.
Absolutely superb location just around the corner from the Battle of Normandy museum and a stones's throw from the cathedral.
The team have made an excellent job in converting the former school buildings into a really comfortable venue.
The beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept in in France.
Easy access and parking.
Lovely breakfast.
The host spoke perfect and fluent English.
Everything about this hotel is wonderful: the welcome and helpful staff, the great room with everything that you could need, great location between the train station and the town centre, the beautiful grounds, and the fantastic breakfast. I will definitely stay here again!
Our room was amazing. The owner cooked us omelets every morning along with fresh croissants and flan from the bakery. Was great. If you are going for D-Day/Normandy, stay here in Bayeux.
