Great location for an overnight stop on our way back from southern France. Staff was great; friendly and helpful. Very nice to see COVID-19 safety precautions including temp reading at entrance, mask policy and hand sanitizer. Room was larger than most in the area. Bed was on the harder side, but still comfortable. No noise. Very clean. Breakfast was totally acceptable for the price.

The hotel was easy to find, fantastic value for money they only charged us an extra €5 for two dogs so the total cost was €41, wifi was great and parking was safe and the lady in reception was so very friendly, the room was spotless. I would defiantly stay there again.
Location. Location. Location. This is a perfect place to stay to have easy walking access to the exploring opportunities in Chalon-sur-Saone. Very clean and great people - the breakfast is amazing. The only thing that could have been better were the stiffness of the bed. We are used to very soft beds in the US, but here, Geneva, Sienna, Rome, Madrid, Torrilmolinos, and Paris all had the same stiffness in bedding. Aside from that - WOW great place to stay!
Sunday there was an arts and crafts fair along riverfront, a lovely walk under the shady trees along beautiful river, and a Farmers Market in cathedral square, with restaurants also open, very festive. Island well worth a walk, and a meal in one of the many island restaurants. Beautiful architecture in historic old town - follow the walk the tourist office gives maps for. We heard good live music in two different places. We saw the annual swallow return to build nests, lovely.
The supposed 24 hour reception closes at 10pm. We were given an invalid security code to access the car park. Then eventually, when we were able to get into the premises (via a neighbouring hotel), the automated check-in system would not dispense our room keys until I had paid for breakfast a second time - having already paid for it in full in my original booking. So all in all, it took us 45 minutes to get into our rooms from the point of arriving at the hotel car park. That is no fun at the best of time, but certainly not at 3.30am, having driven from the UK for nearly 12 hours straight. Oh, and being overcharged for the privilege.
The town centre is compact and interesting, as you would expect there are squares with some great bars and restaurants. There are many festivals and fetes which can be great fun, Chalon is a good starting point for exploring the region
We arrived early and it took a while for the owner to open the door to us and appeared a bit put out we were an hour early so at first not very welcoming. We had three rooms booked and shown to them we were the last to be shown and on arrival to our room I turned to ask a question and the owner had disappeared we had to smile as it was as if she was a ghost and had gone though the wall in this beautiful house. We all had questions to ask but no indication as to how to communicate with her in the end we rang her phone. The Chateau is very remote a beautiful building and well maintained but a long way from any where so one has to drive if wanting a meal at a restaurant or get a taxi. The restaurant on the river recommend by the Chateau was a beautiful setting but as we had classic cars we opted for a taxi which was 50Euro for the return journey. The owner was helpful in booking the restaurant prior to our arrival. Good Breakfast nicely presented the owner did seem happier when we were leaving and it was pay day!!!
Excellent os the best to describe this property.. Nice and warm welcoming. Good dinner in restaurant, well situated..Staff very helpful and pleasant.
