it is a special place, like an Art Academy, frequented by artists from all over the world, to which workshops are made available: it is a pleasure to talk with them and visit their Ateliers. It is located in an old monastery and there is an inner garden. The host, Mija is a lovely person, delicious and helpful. Very good breakfast in a familiar and international environment. we got the room at the first floor, very large and comfortable. The next time we will go to Normandy we will make a route deviation, just to spend again few days in La Misericorde

Arriving at Chambres d’Hote Couleurs d’Elvine’s was refreshing! Elvine instantly made us feel right at home. She helped us carry our bags up the flight of stairs to the two bedroom suite, showed us around and left us to settle in. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and colorful, with paintings she, and her grandmother, had done. The furniture, though eclectic, all fit together, creating a unique style. The bed was very comfortable. The house is situated in a very quiet neighborhood. Elvine asked us if there was anything in particular that we’d like for breakfast and accordingly made us eggs, but we were also treated to her delicious crepes and her homemade jams! Also on site is Elvine’s workshop, where one can see her colorfully painted pottery. In fact, we ordered some custom painted bowls for our grandchildren.

The cathedral is a must see.

The cathedral is a must see. And some good shops, cafes and restaurants. Haven't been there for several years and it's come on a lot. In a good way. The people are so nice. The whole town is easily walkable and there is a good bakery near the cathedral to pick up a picnic. It's a good idea because the food on the ferries isn't always great.Also a large Leclerc nearby

Coutances is a fairly wealthy town but not chi chi like La...

Coutances is a fairly wealthy town but not chi chi like La Touquet or Deauville. Nice shops a wonderful cathedral, beautiful gardens easy access to places like Granville or D-Day beaches. The best place to stay is Hotel Tanqueray de la Rochaiserie, a magnificent and beautiful town hose just around the corner from the cathedral. 6 stars for the place and the genial host, Gilles. Wonderful breakfast as well. Kalamansi is a great place to eat in Coutances, down by the theatre, go for the chefs special menu. If you want the best fruits de mer go to Le Phare down on the port at Granville

Classic French town dominated by churches especially the RC cathedral. A few good restaurants and bars plus a superb themed botanical gardens. Cocktails in Le Club were excellent. Home cooking in A 3 Pas was tasty. Flowers throughout the town were very impressive. Good location for sightseeing and onward travel.

Secure car parking. The breakfast selection. The staff were polite and courteous, especially remembering we had requested at the time of booking oat milk at breakfast. It's very good as a 1 night stopover hotel as it's just off the main roads, but set back enough that you don't hear any traffic noise. Although there's not a restaurant for evening dinner, there's an American diner right next door. Not admittedly French cuisine, but wholesome food all the same.

This quiet hotel is on the outskirts of Coutances surrounded by trees. It's very good value for money. The rooms are of good size and the beds very comfortable. Many of the rooms have recently been upgraded as have some of the larger salons. Breakfast is very good and the staff very friendly. A very good stop over for exploring the many local sites.

Simply furnished but perfectly adequate. Hotel DID serve breakfast and had parking (despite what it said on the website!). Madame directed us to a very nice nearby restaurant as the hotel does not serve food.
