Les meublés du Grand Logis are detached holiday homes with a garden, set in Marchais. Guests benefit from terrace. I stayed in the trailer for 2 nights and had the most magical time while there, amongst beautiful willow trees, orchards, chickens, a lake with ducks, hammocks, a fish pond... the surroundings were peaceful and enchanting, and I had my private veranda where I could eat, read, draw, do my yoga and just sit observing the gardens with a glass of wine. The trailer was so comfortable, immaculate, and a joy to cook in. Beatrice is an exceptional masseur as well as host, and I was lucky to have had one of her brilliant massages which she trained in Thailand for 3 months. Despite my lack of French, I was made to feel so welcome, and enjoyed meeting people at the breakfast table where we had crepes, croissants, conserves and coffee. Beatrice was also kind enough to collect me and drop me at the train station on arrival/departure, a silver service! I only wish I could have stayed longer, but I most definitely will be returning, to improve my French and indulge in total relaxation.
This castle was built in the 19th century and is the ideal location to discover the charm of the Champagne region. The Château de Barive and its staff are pleased to welcome you. Lovely, spacious room, excellent stuff, comfortable bed and bath. They accommodated our request to eat our picnic in our room instead of eating in the restaurant. Excellent breakfast with lots of tasty options.
Set in a remodeled 19th-century stone silo, Gîte Lorengrain provides original, self-catering accommodations in the countryside, 5 mi from the medieval town of Laon. This is the second time here while we travel with our pets to Mallorca for the winter/spring. It is ideal for us being detached and with plenty of space.
Located in Bruyères-et-Montbérault, 24 miles from Soissons, Chambres d'Hotes Lorengrain has a garden and free WiFi. The accommodations have a spa bath and a sauna. Great location, friendly hosts and the Breakfast was amazing. We only stayed for the night, but next time we will stay longer.
Marchais is a very quiet village, there are no shops, bars or restaurants. Great if you want peace and quiet, but to eat and drink in the evening you need to book at the accommodation or go to neighbouring villages or Laon city.
