Menton is right on the border with Italy.
Menton is right on the border with Italy. Other towns on the French Riviera have more history and many have art museums, but Menton has a nice laid-back resort vibe. As far as I could tell, many of the other tourists were there for more extended trips than my three-day stay.
The old town is particularly interesting, because it seems virtually unchanged from when it was build.

Menton, the citrus capital of the world (don't tell the Italians ...) is definitely worth a visit! Typical French Mediterranean sea-side village with a specific charm! Nothing like Cannes or St. Tropez, but quaint with a touch of dolce vita. Lots of sights to see, beaches to visit, restaurants to dine in (even a former Best Restaurant of the world) and plenty of citrus themed souvenirs such as soaps, lotions, beverages, etc. We always stop in Menton when traveling from Italy to France, or vice versa.

Menton located to the east of Nice and Monaco is near the border of Italy. A charming city where we found the local restaurants very good. Our favorite was O Petite Corner for morning breakfast operated by a young couple that take great pride in their restaurant and the quality. My two top restaurants were JR Bistro in Menton and Au Grand Inquisitor that is located in a small city on top of the mountain towards Monaco. Au Grand Inquisitor takes a little effort to get there but the views were amazing, and the dinner one of the best meal experiences ever. Each of these highest ratings and I secretly recommend for 5 star experience.
I had a wonderful stay at this grand old hotel in Menton. The historic charm of the building, with its elegant architecture and vintage decor, made for a memorable experience. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable visit. My room was spacious, clean, and offered beautiful views. The location is perfect, just a short walk to the beach and the heart of the city. Highly recommended for those who appreciate classic elegance and excellent service.
Stunning hotel.really grand. Manager was so accommodating. Comfy beds and sexy shower. Place was spotless and great location. Metro straight into Monaco and right on the Rivera. The pool is lovely. Nicest hotel by far in Menton!!!!
