Pezenas is a pretty little town with lots of reasonably priced bars and restaurants and many arts and crafts shops, many selling goods created and sold by the artisans on site. It is a great place to just sit and chill and live a different paced life for a couple of weeks but is also within easy reach of the Mediterranean coast and the sights of the Hérault gorge.
The old town is beautiful and remember to look up at the stunning architecture. The Saturday morning market is also worth a visit to see and buy some local produce. Brocante shops are in abundance and worth a visit to see the antiques on offer.
I love Pezenas for it's authentic historical town centre. The medieval tiny streets are full of charm and interest for their history and architecture. The quality and diversity of the many artisanal shops adds to the towns appeal. I also love to visit when the twice yearly antique fair fills the streets with stalls and people , jazz bands playing outdoors add to the great atmosphere.
Lovely town. Beautiful buildings, excellent restaurants and a superb Market on Saturday. Less than 30 minutes from the coast and Béziers Airport. Rue Conti has a great boulangerie, tapas restaurant and creperie.
Lovely little town, historic centre with lots of artisan shops are great to wander around. Saturday market is enormous and is lovely to immerse yourself in day to day French life. We didn't have time to visit all the Brocante shops which line the roads out of town so will be back.
As our first stay in Southern France was great to be within the historic center of Pézenas. A multitude of fine arts/artisans/craftsman shops all within 10-15 minutes walk. Wonderful variety of restaurants, bakeries, local artisanal foods, antique shops and unique museums. Enjoyed the weekly Friday 'Les Estivales' regional wine-tasting, food festival/performance event which stretched for blocks in the ‘newer’ city center. Plus, Pézenas is just a bit over a half-hour drive to the exceptionally excellent beaches of Agde. Recommended!
