Really liked Quimper. It's a beautiful city. There is a rich heritage, many old houses, half-timbered houses, pedestrian and shopping streets. The cathedral is monumental, original with its two towers of the 19th and its choir off-center. I went to multiple spots/beaches close to Quimper: 1. Phare d'Eckmühl 2. Plage la Torche-Tronoën 3. A very beautiful city, superb streets. Worth going to see the pottery museum and exhibition of Breton life. We were disappointed that the exhibition of fine arts was closed for renovation, but a good reason to return to the town when it reopens. The height of the tourist season, the restaurants were extremely busy, too many creperies and taco bars and not enough regular restaurants. More beggars than we are used to, but a few good street musicians as well. The tourist map of town was very useful, obtainable at the tourist information office, but we couldn't find a bigger map showing more of the town and its immediate environment, apart from the OS map. Difficult to find cycle routes around and out of town. The free events in the bishop's garden behind the cathedral were fun.Guest review bySusanFrance - 10.0

We could return to Quimper again and again: there are a multitude of incredible restaurants and shops, it's easy to navigate and completely walkable. And a short bus or taxi ride to the waterfront, as well as river cruises, museums, cultural heritage tours, concerts ... we've been a few times now, and once again there was way more to do than we had time for!Guest review byJudithUnited States - 8.0

It was quiet and early in the season so the Musée de Faience was closed, other museums were available and very interesting. The Art Gallery is being re-built, opening in 2 years. Good range of restaurants, but the best for us was L'Identité, 9 Rue Sainte Catherine.Guest review byJohnFrance - 8.0

The location, on an outstanding street, so typically French with shops and restaurants, was a wonderful surprise. Step outside the door and you are at the heart of this superb old town. It is immediately next to the cathedral. Most of the fittings, appliances and decor look very new. The location is very close to the centre of Quimper, a very attractive place. There is no car parking at the apartment but there is a large car park a couple of minutes walk away which is free overnight and with very reasonable charges during the day.
