Set in 17 acres of Lancashire parkland the 4-star Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa is a 700-year old country manor. Mercure features an indoor swimming pool and a restaurant. It’s a shame the price goes up on certain days for the same room even for members.

No Pedal Bin and glasses in the ensuite No fridge Room over priced £60 pound for breakfast which was pre cooked Lift not working Reported this on checkout staff just laughed family spread to four corners of the hotel Tarriff Parking but had to register car especially travelling a long distance Family member reported noise level. Staff gave her room number when contacted the noisy room neighbour. She had two young children staying with her and these people could of been aggresive type. Overall disappointed to say the least. Would not recommend this hotel to any one only positives were the bed and swimming pool
Absolutely fabulous pub. I've stayed here for 5 nights and had a brilliant time with everyone. It's such a welcoming place and very well run. The room was great, plenty big enough with a private bathroom. Tea making facilities and a pot of porridge too. There's plenty going on in the pub during the week. I arrived on a Monday and it was Poker pizza night. There is also a pool table, darts and TV's to watch your favourite sports. Have a few beers or a few shots of "Mini Guinness" and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in the bar. Even if your a solo traveller like me.... I felt very safe on my own drinking in the bar which made it more relaxing. Johnathan and staff are fantastic and all very helpful. Can't wait to get back!!!
Food was excellent most of the staff helpful room was clean I ask for prices for treatments three times they said it would be emailed to me but it wasn't no price list so I gave up in the end not enough tea coffee and milk and not enough toilet paper I would go again drink prices were expensive but we did enjoy
Nice to get out of some of the larger UK cities and see the character of smaller towns, wander the streets and sample the local fare. Not currently a major tourist destination, Accrington is a great visit, and currently a hidden gem; except to the friendly locals.
i was born in accrington 74 years ago. this was just a visit going back in time. i have relatives in clitheroe and whalley and spent most of my time there and around the ribble valley. accrington is not was it used to be when i left in 1966.
The Dunkenhalgh is very conveniently situated with one or two different eateries nearby. Accrington town centre, however, is very run down with lots of shops closed or closing down. Think that's the way all town centres seem to be going. There does seem to be free or cheap parking though, to entice people to come & shop though.
The hotel exceeded our expectations and offered really good value for money. The room was huge and well appointed and the facilities were excellent. The grounds were well kept and despite there being some maintenance work going on it didn't interfere. The staff at the front desk were really helpful and they accommodated our early check in needs and also booked a taxi for us. The room was really lovely and seemed to have been recently refurbished. We really liked the bathroom and the Nespresso machine.
The hotel itself was ok, however, attempted to check in at 10.30pm and was told the manager has the keys and was only available at 1.30am. So i hd to wait around in middle of Accrington until the manager was available, he was drunk when he did finally arrive. I was then told to leave at 10am even though i wasnt allowed in until 1.30am. Shambles.
