The Oak House Hotel is located in the medieval town of Axbridge, at the foot of the Mendip Hills and looking out over the natural beauty of the Somerset Levels. The service is absolutely wonderful. Every single one of the staff is a delight and deliver service equivalent to hotels many times the price. Location and situation is gorgeous. The rooms are perfectly adequate snd comfortable. What a delight of a stay.

We stayed for one night in a family room. The room was very clean and child friendly. We had good tea choices, snacks and milk in the fridge. Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked, great selection of marmalade and jams. The host Graham was very understanding with a booking error we made and helpful with advice about the area. Great location, 3 miles from the Cheddar Gorge.

Lovely buildings medical, unfortely the only other pub shut for refurbishment cinema closed museum very limited opening no other evening restaurants town died when market shut at 1pm ,a real ghost time,nice walks and cycal paths

Axbridge is a small village 2 miles from Cheddar. It has a fantastic small coop with fresh bread daily, nice pub and tea rooms and a hotel. It is situated on the Strawberry Line cycle and walking path. You can rent bikes in Cheddar (one end of the route). Loads to see in the area and beautiful walks on the doorstep. The small museum is well worth a visit. Wells, Weston-Super-Mare, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole are all less than half an hour away. Lovely place for a short break.

We stayed here because of its location in the Mendips and Bristol. We toured around and there was plenty to see and do. Lots of dine out opportunities. There’s a very good pub restaurant over the road and near by in Cheddar.

Axbridge is a small town sadly no shops other than a Coop and 2 hairdressers!! Old medieval town lovely to walk around and well suited for other trips. The Oakhouse sits in the old square easy parking and lively buzz in the early evening in the last of the sun!

We have been visiting Axbridge for the last 10 years.
We have been visiting Axbridge for the last 10 years. A pretty medieval village, with lots to offer, including its own grocery store, beautiful church, the lovely Oak House a 12th Century Hotel and restaurant, a museum - St Johns Hunting Lodge, tea rooms, lovely antique shop, where the people are so very friendly, a friendly pub, pretty side streets and cottages, and lovely surrounding countryside for walking and taking in the fresh air. It even has its own reservoir.

Good location & a charming character property.
Good location & a charming character property. Although bathroom is dated, the shower was very good. Spacious room & enjoyed an excellent nights sleep in a very comfortable bed. The breakfast on the following morning was very good. Would definitely recommend this property.

Parking on site, walks available in area and place to eat across the road, or a short walk into Axbridge. Pretty garden and generally helpful host. Great location for setting off to all hiking and sightseeing in the area.
