Hotel in Barnsley
Built around a former 17th-century residence and still retaining much original character, with beautiful oak beams, the 4-star Tankersley Manor Hotel is ideally located for visiting Barnsley,... I stayed at multiple hotels and airbnbs in Sheffield, and I can confidently say this is one of the best. Quiet and calm area, nice facilities, clean room, comport king-sized bed! I will definitely stay at this hotel again if I travel there later.

The room was quite large and comfprtable. The bar area was very nice and the girl behind the bar was very friendly and talkative. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient, particularly the bar and wait staff. The Fairway is very busy at the weekend but it was never difficult to get someone’s attention and assistance. The menu - while not overly extensive - offered plenty of choices and proved to be very good value. The floors on the first floor are very squeaky and the hot water in the bathrooms is really hot, something we’re not used to in Australia. The venue itself is well situated with easy access to the motorways and main cities nearby. We’d stay there again.
Booked a room for 2 adults and a child under 1 year old, our allocated room was not accessible by with a pushchair so had to accept a lesser rated one. Aside from that the hotel was very nice and the staff were excellent. Well located for motorway.
Beautiful country side around hotel , easy to find and not in the town off Barnsley .central place to go off and visit surrounding area . Friendly helpful people . Lovely visit to Cannon Hall Farm in Crawthorne . Never been this far up north before 😀
Barnsley its self has not much to say about but the hotel we stayed in would be ideal for people as a base to explore the surrounding area it was a 1 night stay for a family funeral so didnt venture far
Barnsley is a surprisingly spacious and lovey looking town with lots of great architecture. Like most places you have the usual homeless person. They are friendly enough. There is major refurbishment to the 'Glass Works' and it looks like it is going to be a nice place. Nightlife on a Monday is not good, but throughout the week it is quite a vibrant night life.
My first idea of Barnsley ( before I visited) was that it would very industrious with tall chimney stacks everywhere. I could not have been more wrong, It is a beautiful place larger than I thought with beautiful scenery. Plus a vibrant shopping centre. There are some older parts of the town that are well worth visiting with winding country roads that will lead you to the most stunning views over the countryside that you wouldn't imagine.
The Hotel was perfectly located for the event we attended and easy to get to from the motorway The room itself was OK, a little tired but it was expected for the price All the staff were friendly and polite as you come to expect from Yorkshire folk.
The building and grounds were beautiful. We also liked that, upon request, we were moved to a “quieter” room the first night. However, the “quieter” room on the second and third night turned out to be terribly noisy due to unruly hotel guests.
The public areas were fine: spacious & attractively decorated. Staff extremely friendly, pleasant & efficient.
Easy self check in process, close to town centre 5 mins walk
