Hotel in Brackley
Located in Brackley, within 20 miles of Bletchley Park and 20 miles of Milton Keynes Bowl, Paisley Pear, Brackley by Marston's Inns has accommodations with a bar and free WiFi throughout the property... I made the reservation for my brother-in-law who had never travelled abroad on his own and doesn't speak English. So I am writing this review on his behalf, quoting what he told me upon his return to Greece: "I had a great time at the hotel and feel extremely grateful for all the help and support I received from the exceptional staff. Everything was perfect and a great value for money." A big "thank you" from me as well for being there for him.

We were free to use the dining room and drawing rooms downstairs. A bit isolated, but we liked that and had our dinner delivered. Very friendly staff. Breakfast (continental) was very ok. Recommended!

Loved Brackley…Hated the accommodation as previously described…bed, room, pillows the worst ever. Room smelt . Vile. I expected far more , even though it was only £40 I would rather have slept in my car.
In the little time we spent there seems a pleasant enough English market town. Similar to other places lots of places closed or in the process of closing down. Many of the older buildings now Takeaways. A small supermarket exists. Parking good enough the time we were there
An attractive town with at least one excellent Italian restaurant and some fine buildings, including the church with its extensive churchyard at the top of the town, and a large second-hand book shop.
We were very fortunate to have made an educated guess and went to a pub within walking distance from the Crown, The Plough, which was great ! They were not serving food by the evening on the Sunday before the Bank Holiday, but did have live entertainment and a great atmosphere - I would definitely recommend anyone to visit The Plough - the Landlord and Landlady run an excellent establishment and couldn't have been more helpful or kind, organising a taxi for us (I am currently mobility compromised due to recent surgery) and even apologising for not serving food ! They recommended an excellent Indian restaurant very close to where we were (unfortunately) staying so that worked out very well. The Costa in the town also did very good breakfast food (and beverages, obviously !), standard chain-brand fare, but well executed. Brackley itself seemed very nice, for what we saw of it, as it was just a base for us to attend an event at nearby Silverstone. If possible, I would advise to avoid the Crown - which is a shame - unless it has a change of management and a overhaul.
The only positive to our stay was location. We were going to the British Grand prix at Silverstone and this hotel is only 15 min drive away. The room smelled strongly of damp, it was dusty and very dirty. The carpet felt and looked filthy too, I couldn't walk barefoot on it. Then there was the horror of the bathroom, mould, filth, dust everywhere, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. Even the mirrors were dirty. Actually heard a staff member talking about/mocking us, during our stay. When we were about to check out, I was fully prepared to complain and demand a refund, but I was unable to find any staff member at 8.30 am on a Monday morning. I have plenty of photos showing the disgusting state of this place. Unhappy, frustrated and furious customer.
The hotel was uninhabitable. It was very dangerous for anyone to stay. Cling film was covering the smoke alarm in the first room we were shown. The someone had sat on the edge of the bed without underwear on and left a stain in the quilt, the bathroom floor had cigarette papers on it. It had certainly not been covid cleaned if cleaned at all. The next room had old lamps wired straight into plug sockets. Nothing had any p.a.t testing information. The whole place smelt of mould it got worse once we were in rooms. The mattress had a layer of dust all around the edge. We saw three rooms in total none of which beared any resemblance to the photos of the room we booked. I have since noticed these photo's are at least 10 years old! The hotel have taken payment from my account as i didn't cancel before 12p.m but i couldn't see room until 2pm. I couldn't stay when i asked for a refund due to the state of the rooms i was sent a "Gif " saying NO! no explanation or apology. I have reported the hotel to the relevant authorities but feel absolutely cheated that they have taken my money. Please take this hotel off your site so no-one else is put through this or even worse !
