A pleasant drive on a Friday evening over to Caldicot.

A pleasant drive on a Friday evening over to Caldicot. Excellent weather, not too hot or too cold. An enjoyable day out with Hive Mind Mead & Brew Company. A Bee Keeping course in the morning and a Mead Making course in the afternoon. In between both courses, I had a relaxed walk around the grounds of Caldicot Castle!

The town itself isn't particularly interesting, but it has a lovely castle with attractive grounds - great for walking round and also entrance at times. Surrounding countryside is also attractive with easy access to the Wye Valley, Roman remains at Caerwent and the Brecon Beacons.

The location was perfect for us as we were going to a gig at Caldicot Castle and it was literally across the road. Easy to find, access instructions were great, parking on the drive and extremely close to a pub which did a fantastic meal. Great freshly cooked breakfast which set us up for the day

Apart from the higher management being obsessed with putting up anti-covid posters everywhere, it was a good stay in a slightly shabby but good hotel. It is a pity that there is no proper restaurant in the hotel itself, only burger type foods next door. Altogether a reasonably good place to stay.

Absolutely everything was perfect, I have never been anywhere that offers so much for such a good price, even 4* hotels I have used don’t come up to this standard. Can’t wait to go again!
