Great Hotel Western hotel really nice Good location in Chelmsford Friendly staff and professional Free parking Very modern rooms and clean Recommend this hotel ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍 Many thanks for a great stay Lisa
we were visiting family for an occasion, we had good weather, the hotel is within easy walking distance of the centre and shops, there is also a lovely park with a small lake in the centre and the cathedral. i think there are museums not sure if open at this time. also within short time distance to london on train. We ate at the riverside inn 5 mins from hotel, pub food but good.
Attractive old town mixing modern with old. Nice gardens and coffee shop offering daily meals. Good shopping centre catering for all tastes. Easy to walk through especially for wheelchair access. Local transport regular. Travel to other towns easy with trips into countryside and seaside resorts. Lovely place to visit.
We didn't go into Chelmsford on this occasion as we were travelling to our son's home in a nearby town. However, I have been into the centre of Chelmsford previously, and like it very much. It's very modern, with some olde-worlde touches, and a river flowing through the centre. Lots of super wellknown shops, as well as some really nice individually owned stores selling all sorts. I'm not sure about activities for children, as we have generally been to Chelmsford city centre either shopping or for the cinema. However, there are also some good places to visit in surrounding towns and villages. It's a lovely city, and well worth a visit.
We did not actually go into Chelmsford, The purpose of our visit was to attend a wedding. The Compasses at Littley Green accommodation was exactly what we needed after a lengthy journey. We will return and visit Chelmsford definitely stay at The Compasses!
Felt like a typical market town with a good selection of shops and restaurants plus good transport links. Very convenient for London, only 30 minutes away, although rail prices seemed high - although I suspect that is typical for the SE of England.
The lodge was way above my expectations from the massive bathroom, heated floors, controlled velux windows, fluffy robe/towels, proper coffee, sky tv, very clean, MASSIVE bed it was just amazing, so much so I cancelled my stay in London and commuted back to the lodge for the remaining night. The owner even gave me a lift to the local park and ride in the morning for work. Highly recommend this lodge and would stay here again in a heartbeat if im back down this way.
Honestly, I really did love everything about this hotel -- it may be my absolute favorite of my 16-day UK trip. Loved the garden area outside our room, the spacious and super comfortable room, the amazing food (you just have to eat at the restaurant here!), and all the amenities. Free parking in a huge parking lot was amazing. WiFi worked great. The price was very reasonable. Would totally stay here again and again if I could!
Chelmsford
It’s brilliant, lovely old village pub and garden with an interesting history and friendly staff. Laid back atmosphere, modern room with all mod cons in separate extension. All situated in rolling Essex fields within easy reach of Chelmsford. Recommend the eggs Benedict for breakfast.
The place was overpriced for what we received. The decor is outdated, we waited long to be served at breakfast. If you are looking for 1 or 2 nights stay, is better to go toPremier Inn or Holiday Inn.
A beautiful hotel in lovely surroundings. Very comfortable room and a good choice of breakfast items. We also had dinner at the hotel which was like a top class restaurant.
