We stayed in the Old Furnace and I would certainly recommend this property to any family looking for that bit of quality where they will be holidaying. It has everything that you need including an open plan kitchen and dining area, lovely walk in showers and clean beds. Can’t fault anything, the owners are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. You’ll be hard pushed to beat this property for its price. Thank you to Jill and Brian
Cinderford is on the edge of the Forest and within easy reach. There are a couple of small supermarkets, a great Chinese restaurant called Lotus and several nice dog friendly pubs within a short drive. It’s a great location for exploring the Forest and Wye Valley. We visited Symonds Yat, Tintern Abbey, Beechendeen sculpture trail and the Arboretum.
Lovely place, clean comfy rooms, fabulous food and excellent breakfasts, great value for money, ideal location for Forest of Dean which is stunning. Owners and staff of White Hart Inn were so friendly and accommodating- will definitely be back.
Forest of Dean was lovely walking area. Plenty of interesting places to visit in short driving distance. In Belfry restaurant we liked the food, but both nights there was a 1 hour wait, even though we booked. (Maybe short-staffed due to Covid? Cinderford has several other small restaurants, but we didn't try them - probably would next time. Convenience store in village. Cinderford has supermarkets, hardware shops, a few other useful shops, banks, hairdressers,
Although the area was stunning and Little Dean itself was quite picturesque, Cinderford was not a town I would recommend. It was run down , unattractive, did not offer a range of good quality cafes, pubs and restaurants. The best thing about it was the Co Op !! We avoided Cinderford unless we needed any shopping !
Cinderford is a very historic town with a long industrial heritage. There are some grand buildings; but mostly it is houses clustered around a small square and a quite-long high street. It is sadly evident that Cinderford, like my home-town of Camborne (Cornwall), has fallen on hard economic times because of the decline of the industries that once supported it. This shows in things such as the number of closed shops, the high number of take-aways and low number of places to eat in, and the quietness of the town in the evening. However, Cinderford has plenty to offer visitors, because all the above points make it a comparatively cheap place to stay and shop. And it is on the north-east edge of the Forest of Dean -- a magical place, full of natural beauty and fascinating historical sites. That's why we went; and we had a great five days in and around the town. We stayed at the New Inn, at the south end of the town; and that was great too.
Location was great. The room was comfortable and warm. The complimentary drinks were great.
