Located in the heart of rural Oxfordshire, in picturesque Dorchester, The George Hotel is one of Britain’s oldest coaching inns. The inn offers hearty breakfasts and a traditional restaurant. Have stayed here many times. The people are great and the hotel is amazing.
With a garden and fabulous rooms with attached bathroom, this charming bed and breakfast nestles amid the medieval village of Dorchester-on-Thames, where Midsummer Murders was filmed in 2010 and 2014.... Clean and comfortable, staff were extremely friendly!
Just a 20-minute drive from Oxford, and 6 min drive from The Crazy Bear Stadhampton. Warborough B&B offers high-quality accommodations in a luxurious architect-designed home. The landlady was easy to talk to and was friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was what I had expected with everything cooked just to my liking. The room was clean & tidy. Balcony not used as raining.
Offering luxurious barn conversion suites around 20 minutes’ drive from Oxford, Court Farm Barns enjoy an beautiful village location in Warborough. Superb property, sparkling clean, comfortable and warm. 'Breakfast' package was one of the best that I've had, very thoughtfully put together and top quality ingredients. Really couldn't fault anything, will definitely use again when working in the area. Many thanks.
Located in South Oxfordshire, in the heart of the village of Burcot, The Checkers offers 9 beautifully-designed rooms with attached bathroom, an award-winning bar and gastro pub. Our evening meal was delicious and our breakfast very good, would definitely recommend and definitely return.
Located between Oxford and Henley, this hotel features beautiful views over a quiet part of the River Thames. Guests can enjoy the restaurant and bar and free parking. I live in Newcastle and my partner is from Oxford so we come down quite often and I can safely say this is the place we will be staying every time now. The staff are so friendly, the rooms are comfy and clean and you couldn’t get a better location! That view 😍
It was our first visit there and we were pleasantly surprised how beautiful this village was, full of old traditional charm and quaint cottage style houses. There were a few pubs there offering a variety of food and drinks. We really enjoyed the fish platter at The George Inn as their Friday offer. We had a pleasant walk around the village and visited the Old Abbey.
Dorchester is a quiet medieval town situated next to the River Thames within easy reach of Oxford and Abingdon. Its history goes as far back as the late iron age period but it was the Romans who really started Dorchester. Most of the architecture though is medieval and has been used for TV shows such as Midsummer Murders.
Great village full of character with its own mediaeval abbey and nice walks in the village and to the west, the river Thames itself with tow paths and a bridge to Little Wittenham village, and an iron age fort
Dorchester is a delightful village with many older and distinctive properties. Had a lovely walk in the surrounding countryside along the Thames Path. The Abbey was closed when we visited but looks like an interesting place to visit with peaceful grounds.
Gorgeous village with lots of history and beautiful walks both in the village and surrounding countryside. Really easy drive to both Oxford where there is a big car park at Westgate and Benheim. Eat at the Whit Hart. The food and accommodation there are superb.
Lovely village with three excellent pubs. The landlord at the White Hart cannot do enough for you. Traffic is light, the main road runs around the village so traffic noise is not an issue. It is a pretty, typically English village with thatched, and tudor-style houses, with Oxford in easy reach.
