guisborough is a small town / village. All modern facilities are availalbe. Need to watch out for parking restrictions in the high street. We were told you needed a disc to put in your car for a 2 hour free parking; however, the post office didn't sell / provide one as advised it did, and Somerset house that apparantly did wasn't open on Saturday. Watch out for market days as there are further parking restrictions.
Excellent place as steeped in history with lots of information around. If you want to know more about the heritage etc you can ask at reception. Very large and lots of corridors to navigate although they all tell stories along the walls as you go. Met Lord Guisborough one afternoon on the gin terrace, what a lovely and charming character he is! Had a really nice meal in the Challoner restaurant. Bed was quite comfy but the room was very hot to sleep as no air con. Concierge provided a fan on request and we had ice delivered every day by pleasant staff. The waiting staff of all levels are what makes the hotel a speciality as they are all pleasant and interested in making the stay as good as it can be.
Basically you gets what you pays for. Gisborough Hall is an impressive building with a long history, and facilities and staff are what you would you would expect from such an establishment. We had only one minor complaint and it was dealt with pleasantly and competently. You would need to be seriously hard to please to give anything other than a favourable review.
Nice town but poorly set-up for overnight visitors. Parking is confusing and restrictive - no information about where long-stay parking might be found, or even if there is any. Very good range of shops. Could do better.
Grand building with lovely terraced and grassed areas for you to sit and have a drink in the sun. Our bedroom was in the woodlands wing and was comfortable and well equipped with kettle, iron, hairdryer etc. Bathrooms could do with a little updating but were clean and functional with Molton Brown toiletries. Bed was large and extremely comfortable with high quality bedding. We missed having a bar area to sit in and relax, there were however plants sofas and chairs in the drawing room where you were able to have a pre and post dinner drink. Breakfast was superb, high quality with a good choice. We enjoyed dinner on both nights we stayed, eating in both the restaurant and bar restaurant, the latter was very quiet with only one other table in use which was a shame, we would have enjoyed a bit more buzz and ambience. Despite a couple of negatives we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely one back.
Two otstanding restaurants (Scarletts and Cookfellas) in an attractive small town. Ideally placed for visits to Staiithes and Whitby on the coast, Riveaulx Abbey and the Ryedale Folk Museum. Fine drives over the moors and down the dales.
Guisborough
Good location, cheap parking. The rooms are clean and the property looks recently refurbished. It's central to Guisborough High Street but not noisy at all. There's a small cafe selling good food and coffee about 30 metres from the property. There's also good selection of pubs/micropubs/restaurants within a very short walk of the property. Bathroom and kitchen are particularly nice and the milk/coffee/shower gel were appreciated. Towels were included. WiFi is provided and is pretty fast.
Beautiful hotel, lovely location. The staff were very welcoming and could not have been more helpful. The bedroom was beautifully and tastefully furnished, no unnecessary ornaments and no piles of cushions on the bed (which I find irritating). Beautiful bathroom. Breakfast menu was great and we had a delicious breakfast, great coffee. Can't fault this hotel and would definitely like to return.

Guisborough is a beautiful part of the country hidden behind beautiful mountains. Recommend it to anyone whether for a short break or a longer one. And easy to access places like Redcar and Whitby. Loved our little break away.
