Hotel in Haddington
Within walking distance of picturesque Haddington and just 16 mi from Edinburgh, Maitlandfield House features quality, efficiency, traditional charm and original elegance. Food, restaurant server is very efficient, fast, friendly, professional. All food on the menu are super tasty and well done great chef, one of the best french fries in Scotland (if not the best one) and not expensive. Squid ring is the only so-so taste, but maybe because they are purchased frozen (?) and not made by the Chef herself; all other food made by the chef is superb, including the kids menu. They are serious about food.

Lovely town, interesting shops and a lovely restaurant called “ the Waterside” Easy to walk around and Tyne river ( no , not the same Tyne as runs through Newcastle!) running through Haddington very picturesque Excellent golf courses and coastal walks within a few miles of the town
Haddington too was a disappointment. A walk round the high street took less than a couple of hours. There were very few places to eat and after eating in the hotel on our first night (very restricted menu) and travelled to Gifford for dinner on the second evening. There were a couple of brown tourist signs advertising restaurants which we never found, despite taking the car to see if they were further out of town.
Convenient to visit the town's and villages on the coast east of Edinburgh and Edinburgh it's self. Recommend travel to Edinburgh by Train from Drem as good space in car park. Good restaurant a short walk over the bridge from the hotel Did eat their for three evenings. Nice evening walks around the town.
Very attractive location by the river Tyne, friendly, small town with a few independent quality shops and some really good cafes e.g. The Loft, Falko. Easy to drive in and park right by the shops. Would recommend the fabulous 'Cheese lady" and "Malt Kiln" in particular. Will visit again!
Good staff. The location of the hotel is good. I strongly believe in reviews because it makes business owners put things right. I observed my complaint the previous time I stayed there was looked into. This time, everything was good. My room Was very clean, warm and cozy. It is easy to get around Haddington.
We were staying in Haddington as we were attending a wedding, so we never got a chance to have a good look around, but the small part we did see was very nice and if we were staying longer we would have explored further.
Haddington
Extremely comfortable, warm and superbly equipped. Well placed for visits to Edinburgh, North Berwick and over the Forth Bridge. Also central to Haddington, with its lovely little shopping street and eating places. Great off road parking. Secure. Lovely homely touches, great welcome pack and easy to follow instructions to access the property. Will definitely visit again.
Haddington
The cottage is set in stunning and very relaxing countryside, the cottage itself is immaculate, with luxury hotel-level bedding and furnishings, and every detail is very tastefully done. There was a welcome basket when we arrived with milk, wine and other useful items which was very thoughtful. I wouldn’t hesitate to return!
Haddington
Immaculate decor and cleanliness of property. Very roomy sitting room. Central location in Haddington, but as the bedroom is at the back there was no street noise. Lovely to have shops and cafes just outside. Able to park outside too, but car parks very near - free.

Luxurious facilities - nothing you would want to find in a hotel room ever was missing. Amazing full Scottish breakfast and fantastic 3-course dinner! Not to forget the well equipped bar.
