Hotel Cromwell Stevenage, hotel in Hitchin

Hotel Cromwell Stevenage was once a farm house and home to John Thurloe, secretary to Oliver Cromwell. The property is close to the A1(M) and just 10 minutes’ drive from Knebworth Park.

The hotel was beuatiful and located perfectly to be near restaurants and bars (one nearby even had free live music my first night!) while still being quiet. I absolutely loved the elegance of the hotel, the decor was amazing, bed was comfortable and cosy, my room had a lot of natural light, wonderful water pressure in the shower.

Hitchin is a really nice place.

Hitchin is a really nice place. The church is gorgeous and looks so good at night. The local people are really friendly and even the teenagers have manners. If you like walking or running, there is a lot of open space nearby and some nice little trails of you prefer biking. There are a lot of little boutique shops too selling things you wouldn't find on the Internet of you are looking for gifts. Hitchin is a good base of you are wanting to go to Duxford for the air show, or if you are wanting to explore Royston and the Templar cave. There is a mix of architecture spanning the different periods in history too. If you are hungry, there is a wide choice of places to eat from restaurants to take aways. The Bodrum does fantastic kebabs, and the Town Frier has proper seaside fish and chips. The Sun Inn does some really nice food, and the bar is really quiet, but the staff are first class. I've not had time to explore everything due to only being here through work, so I can only describe where I've been, but I love what I've seen.

Hitchin was a lovely vibrant placed that we wished we had more time to explore. There are a lot of varied restaurants, in the town to choose from, which were reasonable priced for most people’s budgets. The atmosphere of the town and shops were welcoming. We look forward to our next visit to Hitchin.

A great mix of shops, mostly independent local businesses. Great choice of restaurants, and clothing boutiques with a boho twist. Good vintage shops, lovely down by the river and church. Interesting architecture. An awful lot of hairdressers tho!

Hitchin is a lovely market town. Some of the shops have closed down since my last visit, which is a shame, but the pubs and selection of restaurants is outstanding. The atmosphere is always great in Hitchin and the people are extremely friendly.

Hitchin is a great vibrant market town with an abundance of independent places to eat and chill. There are also the major chain places to eat and drink if you are a little less adventurous. There are plenty of open spaces and playgrounds for the little ones. You can sit in the town square, relax, have a drink and watch the world go by. The locals are friendly and happy to chat and help. The train station is nearby and you can be in the centre of London in under an hour.

Great value, lovely breakfast , good wifi and pleasant staff - a different place to stay. The en-suite rooms are equivalent to a travelodge, but overall a much nicer experience. Was good I could park close to my room.

It is very convenient for Hitchin and I prefer it to the Premier Inn as you can open a window! The bed was very comfortable, It was hot when we stayed and a fan had been put in the room, which was really nice.

Breakfast was full English only with toast and coffee or tea. We had to eat in a takeaway under the hotel. This was not as described on booking.com.
