Hotel in Stoke on Trent
You can be assured of a warm welcome, impeccable service and the highest degree of comfort at this inn, conveniently situated on the outskirts of Newcastle-under-Lyme. Our room was simple, clean and comfortable, just what we wanted. The staff were all wonderful and couldn't be more helpful. They certainly went the extra mile! The food was exceptional and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal and couldn't fault anything! Breakfast was amazing too! We would definitely return to the Borough Arms Hotel!
We went to visit our son who is studying at Keele university, the hotel is just a short walk from his halls of residence & the local pub The Sneyd Arms, which serves home cooked food is also in walkin distance to the hotel. We also visited nearby Newcastle under Lyme where we did a little shopping & went to the Vue cinema. All prices at cinema were £6.99 & for this you got a comfy reclining seat, we thought this was excellent as at our local cinema there's an extra charge for VIP seats & the starting price is higher too! Only downside was you have to pay to park the car. My son is loving the uni & finds the people there very friendly.
I liked being left to my own devices but staff were helpful if I needed them. Nice location. I had breakfast in the Hawtjorns restaurant- It was ok but there are so many great eateries in nearby Newcastle under Lyme that I would not include breakfast next time.
My trip was to visit my son at Keele University. Beautiful campus and village. Well placed to visit Trentham gardens and the pottery shops. Ate at the swan with two necks. A fantastic restaurant, amazing food and good price.
I love Keele because it was my university. I didn't recommend it to other travellers because, unless they went to Keele University or have a connection with it, the trip wouldn't mean much to them!
I used this a a base to while viewing properties in the local area so the accommodation served it's purpose and was easy to out and about from. The light breakfast was welcome in the morning. Had dinner at the local bar which was great and when I made an observation about my meal this was immediately attended to. Great service.
Sneyd Arms pub, 2 minute walk away serves great home-cooked food - stay away from the desserts . . . if you can! Yummy! Keele's a small village close to the university, and only a cheap taxi ride away into Newcastle under Lyme if you fancy a bit more night-life. There's also a reliable, frequent bus service as an alternative.
