Grouse Cottage is set in Knockando. The accommodations is 19 mi from Elgin, and guests benefit from private parking available on site and free WiFi. Lovely old traditional cottage in a very quiet rural location. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Lovely views looking out onto Ben Rinnes.
Located in Archiestown, 20 mi from Grantown on Spey, Burnroy House features a garden and free WiFi. Burnroy House is an exceptional Bed & Breakfast in a very scenic part of Scotland. Diane and Steve are super hosts; offering a warm welcome with lots of recommendations for the local area. Our room facilities were amazing with a very comfortable bed and a walk-in shower. The breakfast is outstanding and this set us up for a day of walking and sight-seeing. The B&B is well placed for the numerous Speyside distilleries as well as the Moray coast.
Knockando is a small village surrounded by fields of crops and livestock. Views all around of rolling hills and woodland areas. The road through the village is fairly quiet with some tractors passing through. You’ll need a car to get around unless you are there for the walks! We will certainly return.
Knockando is a quite little village nestled at the top of a glen that has the river Spey running through it. It is an ideal place to escape the rat race and a fantastic location if you enjoy walking and cycling. You are just a short way from the river and the middle of the Spey side way. You can also easily put kayaks into the river at Thamdu and row down to Carron or further. A little gem in the most beautiful part of Scotland. If you are looking for things to do further afield then approximately 15 miles away you are on the coast in either direction (Forres or Fochabers) you can visit Findhorn and it’s amazing bay, Culbin forest which has an RSPB reserve on its edge and a 14km coastline, Brodie castle (fantastic for the kids) Forres is a quaint town with shops. Towards Fochabers you can visit Spey bay (great for spotting dolphins). Fochabers is a lovely village with local amenities and a fabulous walk along the Spey. Heading out of Fochabers along the coast is the village of Cullen (seen on BBC antiques road trip) this has several antique stores and some nice cafes. Great for a walk around the bay or a play on the beach. Elgin is in the middle of Forres and Fochabers and has a small shopping centre with all of your high street stores, there are also several walks around the area and a great park. Close to Elgin is the coastal village of Hopeman, Burghead, Roseisle and the larger Lossiemouth. All lovely places to visit with something for everyone.
