Homely with absolutely everything you could need. A friendly, welcoming host. A delicious breakfast with everything locally sourced, even home-made bread. As far away as possible from corporate accommodation. Our second visit and hopefully won’t be our last. We loved it.

I loved the location, 'No Place, co. Durham' :-D The people are lovely; the food is great - had the liver and onions- wow! Great atmosphere, lovely log fire smoldering in the corner; locals chatting over a pint.. Shout out to Deborah, Jack and Beth for warm welcome after a hard drive in the dark and the rain. And Simon, an exceptional and interesting man who cooks a great breakfast. And the lovely ginger lady whose name I'm sorry I don't know, who welcomed me Thursday evening and was a lovely host.

Lanchester is a very pleasant large village.

Lanchester is a very pleasant large village. It has good free parking, a handful of nice shops and several places to eat. It is an ideal location to visit Beamish open air museum, The Tanfield Railway, Angel of the North and the historic city of Durham with its fine cathedral.

handy location for visiting durham's variety of sites. we chose to dine at the place we were staying as the food is excellent there. we used the park and ride into durham city and it was brilliant and good value for money, parked for free and £2.00 per person for the bus - made visiting so stress free.

This was my first time in this area, I stayed in a rural environment and the views were amazing. I got lucky with sunny days and traveling around the area, the rolling hills were very eyecatching. Lovely views from the hill tops, there are lots of hills, not so good if you have trouble getting about, however driving around and taking in the views in the quiet country lanes was a big highlight for me. The towns are easy to find and are clustered around a twenty mile area, which means you don't have to travel far to see new things or visit a different towns.

Lanchester was a lovely location with easy access to Durham.

Lanchester was a lovely location with easy access to Durham. There were a variety of restaurants, we chose to eat in Clinton's which was next door to our accommodation, the old post office. The food was the best restaurant food I have had for a very long time. I would highly recommend the area and the facilities I used.

Really, we were not staying in Lanchester itself, but it does have two good restaurants and a good range of local shops, and there is free parking throughout, and there is a bypass that keeps unwanted traffic out of the town centre.

Lanchester is a beautiful friendly area. The host Keith is a lovely man friendly informative and really cares for his business. The breakfast is cooked perfectly with produce from his own chickens and garden and anything he can’t produce himself is locally sourced. He bakes a mean loaf. This is the second time we have stayed at this property and if in the area again wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. It is home from home and really relaxing.
