The Lodge is a beautiful renovated Georgian property located in the fabulous historic and upmarket centre of Leicester. Fantastic location for exploring the little streets with a great selection of quirky shops and restaurants, bars and bistro's galore.
I was there to see a band at the Musician venue. Did a bit of sightseeing and shopping. Some very cute streets, shops and restaurants, if you step away from the main street. Avoid Hay Market shopping center, its completely dead. High Cross shopping center is modern and worth the walk if you're into it.
The architecture of the buildings around the town was really nice and interesting. And plenty of vegan options.. Herb restaurant for evening meal and prana cafe for breakfast Lots of variety of pubs and cocktail bars.. The Case was nice for cocktails and the Monocle for metal music
Great public transport links. Very attractive especially New Walk with its wrought iron railings and victoriana style lamp posts. Good pedestrianisation. We visited demontfort Hall very impressive building. Venue is small which makes for an immersive experience, less overwhelming than a large venue. Lots of culture. Attractive green areas like the fountain by city Hall. Great shopping and eateries. Has both city vibe and gentler areas.
Vibrant low key city perfect for a romantic get away, if you want peace and excitement without feeling isolated or over populated e.g. Birmingham. People are friendly, even on a Saturday night there is still a calming atmosphere. Take your family or partner to Leicester for the weekend.
We stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn hotel on St Nicholas Circle which was ideal for walking into the city centre. We went on the first day of Storm Eunice but it wasn’t too bad although we were inclined to use the indoor shopping malls more than those shops outside! The Lanes mall was great, reminded us of Meadowhall in Sheffield! Lots of great shops, John Lewis, L’occitane, Paperchase, New Look and others. The statue of Alice Hawkins, the suffragette was great to see. The Richard 3rd Visitor Centre was superb. We prebooked as you have to and it was so interesting and well put together. The staff were great too. We also visited the National Space Centre the next day…a must for those keen on such matters! The award winning planetarium show was amazing, the live show was fun and seeing some famous items such as the actual astronaut suit in The Martian as worn by Matt Damon and a piece of the moon made it worthwhile. It WAS very busy though and it didn’t seem the numbers were limited at all with covid….lots of small spaces so as mask wearers, my husband and teenage daughter were not happy. About 80% were NOT wearing masks. As this is not enforceable now we accept the staff can’t do anything but no social distancing was scary. The cafe is tiny and was always packed out so we didn’t use it and went elsewhere for a late lunch. The gift shop too was awful. 90% aimed at young children with the homeware, jewellery and books sections very much depleted and disappointing quality. Leicester isn’t, from what we saw, a city with much culture and character but we probably missed that part due to the weather and time we had. Still, Richard 3rd is their biggest asset and definitely worth checking out!
The service through out my stay was exceptional and the staff was pleasant and friendly. This newly revamped hotel has everything you could need during a city break and has been done to a high spec. It was great value for money for a hotel that is a stones throw away from the city centre which is convenient when you do not want to drive everywhere. I will certainly consider booking this hotel again when in Leicester and recommend to others also.
We stayed at the Villare hotel for just one night, visiting Leicester to attend a gig. We will definitely be returning at some point! Our room was lovely, very comfortable night stay and the staff were very friendly. Nice breakfast too which we enjoyed on the balcony roof terrace. Location is very central so you definitely get the buzz of the city centre.
Leicester
Staff were helpful and polite. Dealt with reading light not working promptly Food was excellent, portions were a good size and cooked to order. Definitely recommend the smothered chicken. The room was hot at night which made sleep difficult. Hotel was within easy reach of Leicester city centre and the Space centre
Room was fine quiet as requested, clean and comfortable for 2 nights stay. Breakfast adequate if limited to basic choices. Staff quite helpful and available. Location to rail station was very good, and also for city centre. I would certainly make use of the hotel again if needed,
Leicester
Very quiet, in fact in a new housing estate half an hour out of Leicester. Very clean, but very awkward small shower. The do it yourself continental breakfast was very disapointing. Good value but nothing in the area to reccomend staying there. WE won't be going back.
A beautiful hotel set in lovely parkland. Was beautiful & clean throughout, friendly & helpful staff & delicious breakfast. The building itself is stunning & it was nice to see some of the history of it through photographs & clippings.
The property was very well kept, clean and comfortable. It was in a perfect location for us as we were attending a large family part in a house within walking distance of the hotel. The breakfast was also very good.
Leicester
The room is next to Leicester University and Victoria Park if these are points of interest to you. Quit area (during our short stay at least). Quick responses to a couple of questions I sent through Booking.com
