Leicester is a great city... fantastic shopping centre, excellent restaurants and bars, beautiful parks, two great universities and of course Richard iii. The museum and art gallery are unmissable and don't forget the football and rugby. It's famously the most multicultural city in the UK hence the great restaurants. And did I mention the weather? The sun always shines!
Leicester is a real mixture. The town centre suffers from rather too much modern concrete jungle but still has a lot of fascinating older buildings. The Guildhall, the Cathedral and the Richard III Visitor Centre are well worth seeing. In the town centre, nearly every second building seems to be a bar or restaurant and most I wouldn’t have wished to enter. However, I also found many really good places to eat and drink, including a wonderful French restaurant (Bistrot Pierre, 8 Millstone Lane). The Richard III Visitor Centre has an excellent café, with a peaceful courtyard garden. There is also a wonderful geletaria with superb Italian ice cream. Be selective and you will really enjoy your stay.
Leicester is a very big and busy city, although we were not there to visit Leicester ,we did pop into to town for a while and was mightily impressed with the shopping aspect of the place and a fair few pubs around too.
Everything central and within walking distance. Nice mixture of shops from shopping centre, high street and independents in the lanes. Plenty of independent coffee shops and variety of eateries. Plenty of lovely old buildings. New Walk museum and cathedral well worth a visit
A very pleasant Middle England City with plenty to do. Lots of nice places to eat and drink. The nightlife is a bit lively, however, some places are a bit leery. It's a small enough place for people to be friendly yet large enough to have all that is needed for a City Centre such as indoor shopping, cinemas, etc. Well worth a visit.
We came specifically to see the Richard III sites, including the Cathedral, Visitor Centre, and Bosworth Field. We would have enjoyed more of Leicester if we had had time so I cannot speak about the rest of what's on offer there. What we did see was very interesting.

Good location , short walk from city center Esme at the front desk was exceptional, much thanks to her help,I delicately managed to avoid an embarrassing social situation in the hotel lobby, which involved an inebriated friend trying to escape the friend zone. Spacious breakfast area, reasonably good hotel bar. There is a huge supermarket right next to the hotel-good for buying economical snacks.
