Lichfield looks lovely. We only explored the very centre at night but it was fairly buzzing. Plenty of restaurants and bars. Parking isn't so easy but we were happy to walk around the pedestrianised areas although there were cars there. We ate at Mackenzies - the restaurant in the Corn Exchange. Although slightly on the pricey side it was a wonderful experience. Excellent food, nice staff and gorgeous surroundings. Even a live musical accompaniment who was really good. I'd like to go back to see this city in daylight. We didn't get to see the cathedral as it was Remembrance weekend and we realised it would be too busy.
Well worth visiting in the city centre: the Cathedral, Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum, and Erasmus Darwin's House. These are situated close together and can easily be visited on foot. There is also a Heritage Trail guide that can be downloaded from the VisitLichfield web site. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from; we enjoyed a very good meal in the Ego Mediterranean Restaurant.
A lovely old town to wander around. A variety of eateries, and little independent shops. The Lichfield Garrick Theatre for evening entertainment. Canal walks. Beautiful cathedral, and other places of historical interest to visit. The National Memorial Arboretum is well worth a visit, it would be east to spend a couple of days there. Drayton Manor Theme Park nearby for anyone with a more daring taste!
A nice small city and we were surprised at how clean it was, little litter and graffiti. A good mixture of shops and some nice interesting places to visit with lots of history. Surprised how friendly local people were as well and it was nice to have a chat. The cathedral was a must see and very impressive with fascinating carvings on the exterior. We didn't eat out but found a great chinese takeaway ( The Hong Kong ). Somewhere that we'd like to explore further for sure.
It has everything we like, shops, restaurants, cathedral. We stayed at the Best Weston right in the centre & the food was delicious. Plenty to see around the town and they have lovely gardens and a huge park across from the lake - on a lovely day that’s a full day out if you have kids with a picnic. Been many many times just for a day out from Shaw - perfect for us, never been disappointed (except for the weather some times) we came for the car show which is excellent & free.
A lovely small, friendly city with a lot of history, particularly in the Cathedral area which makes beautiful short walks. The cathedral which is the focus of the diocese which contains the National Memorial Arboretum, is closely associated with WWII in the Far East through its staff and hosts ceremonies related to fate of Far East prisoners of war and civilian internees.

Location was fabulous - secluded and yet not isolated. Perfect for our needs and super peaceful. Surrounded by fantastic rolling countryside and a wonderful area for country walks and even the canal towpath nearby. Lichfield is a very nice city with an incredible number of restaurants, plenty to do and beautifully maintained. Within easy reach of Birmingham by train for a day trip too.
