Enjoyed Lyme Regis as soon as I arrived Not too busy but alive All around cute walks by sea Parking choices Original quaint but everything you want available Gravel / pebble beach but swimming area sandy in places Clear views out to sea gorgeous
Easy to find house apartment in & parking nice atmosphere, pubs etc near beach could do with a few normal shops arty shops a little expensive & hilly location could be difficult for some people OK if fairly fit.friendly place & interesting if you like history & of course fossils
Easy to navigate, everything in walking distance. A lovely place with great choices of places to eat. Quirky shops and excellent bakeries. The beach is lovely, even in the winter! Nearby Bridport worth a visit but don’t bother with Dorchester, what a let down! I had romantic notions of what it would look like, mainly based on my reading of Thomas Hardy novels, but on arrival I couldn’t have been more disappointed.
The beach is absolutely stunning, one of the best in the UK with lots of cafes and restaurants overlooking the scenery .Everything is so close together that if you stay anywhere in the centre, you are within 10 minute walk of the seafront/restaurants/shops/cafes everything! We ate at The Oyster and Fish house on the Saturday night and I cannot recommend enough, the staff were incredible and the fish was just out of this world. They had a very varied menu with great cocktail choices too! The restaurant overlooks the bay so it was a shame we couldn't see in the daylight but we visited the next day and the view is unreal so would recommend for lunch/dinner 100%. There are many cute independent pubs along the high street, all run by the loveliest people and the views from all are amazing.
Such a beautiful and quiet (in November) town. Lots of fine restaurants to dine at, individual shops to browse (with local produce everywhere) and then there's the fossil history! The museums and shops just whet the appetite for you to put on some boots and head out on to the coast to find yourselves some treasures - going on one tour if you can really helps as they give you a rough idea of what to look for. After that, you can just go down for an hour or five whenever the tide is low! Great fun. There's also the Water Mill and the local pottery and art galleries to view which are well worth a visit. Finally, a short drive takes you around all sorts of Jurassic coast gems such as the Golden cap and Charnmouth beach.
It a beautiful little town that's got so much to offer, the lovely seafront, the Cobb, the narrow little streets with all manner of shops. It has the loveliest little museum that you could ever hope to find with friendly and informative staff. There's lots of lovely places to have tea of coffee.
Lyme Regis
Very comfortable room with a view of the sea. Excellent breakfast. Quiet area. The weather was awful while we were there but Lyme Regis is a very interesting place and the room had lots of interesting books to dip into which provided background to the town. We walked to the fossil pavement at the end of Monmouth beach which is well worth a visit at low tide. The town museum contains a lot of information and organises fossil walks.
Lyme Regis
This is a wonderful Inn. We could not have been more pleasantly surprised by the perfectly designed, renovated and decorated suite that we had. We had a view to the sea and a massive, gorgeous bathroom. The care and artistry that was used to create this unique suite was exceptional. The design and comfort of our suite would put many Boutique Hotels to shame. I would not hesitate to recommend this charming little Inn to anyone.
This was a great location for walking into Lyme Regis and the beachfront with parking for the car. The room had a lovely sea view and was bright and sunny. Breakfast was really good too, with proper sausages and bacon in the fry up. The owners were very helpful and welcoming, lending us a map for a walk and helping us with restaurant recommendations.

Fernhill really is a quintessentially British hotel. The location is the perfect spot, set into the quiet countryside but only a short walk into the hustle and bustle of the beach. Jo and her staff were incredibly accomodating and made our stay easy and very enjoyable. I would highly recommend staying here.
