Hotel in Newmarket
Set amid rose gardens, this peaceful hotel has luxurious modern facilities and its architecture dates back to the 17th century. Excellent cuisine is served in the award-winning Squires Restaurant. Chloe on reception was really friendly and helpful. The rooms were beautiful. The swimming pool was undergoing maintenance but we were informed of this days before so it was not a problem, especially as the work is to improve the facilities for guests. The venue is stunning and we look forward to returning (this was our 3rd stay at this hotel) many thanks everyone!

Came down for horse sales and booked this place as I wanted somewhere self-catering. Interesting check-in process as you pick up keys from a key box outside property but actually worked really well. Received a link by SMS to my phone a couple of days before arrival which included all info about check-in, where keys were, info about the property and the area. Many families visiting Newmarket loved staying at The Jockey Club Rooms, Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa, and The Golden Boar.
It is THE place to go if you like horses, even if you are not so keen on racing. The strings from the stables are all over the centre of town walking back and forth to the Gallops on Moult Road for exercise from about 7am until about 9am. Then you can watch them racing together. So get up early! Also the National Horse Racing Museum is really fascinating and well worth the admission fee. You can even try to sit on a horse simulator and pretend to be a jockey....and there is a racehorse rehabilitation centre short tour which explains how racehorses are re-trained to be family friendly horses.
Small market town with the National Horseracing Museum and National Stud- both worth a visit. Lovely walking along devil's dyke and spend an hour or so watching all the horses on the gallops ( on the edge of the town)- hundreds from between 6-11am.
Nice little town with everything accessible. Much cheaper than staying in Cambridge but Cambridge is easily accessible by train. Even if you are not into horses it is still a good place for a short break.
This town is charming and historic, The locals are friendly and its a short distance to Ely, Bury-St.Edmunds , and Cambridge to name a few "must see" spots. Some very good dining options, Italian, Mexican, Thai and Middle Eastern cuisine are all represented.
Newmarket is a nice Town is easy to get around, parking is very cheap. There is a lot of history there to do with horse racing and you can see the horses being trained and walked as they are all around. There are a good variety of good restaurants within the town which would suit most tastes.
Whats really surreal is to see horses crossing the main roads, loved the open green places ,wished I'd known when they exercised the horses ,it would have been great to see. There's a Waitrose and a Big Tesco, but the best tea and cake was at the Animal Health Trust Cafe, all home made and not over priced. Anyone can visit there, it's just on the outskirts of Newmarket.
