my wife and I| enjoyed our stay at Redworth Hall Hotel from 7 to 9 October. The hotel is a lovely place to visit with friendly, willing staff to help us. Our ground floor room 110 we were given was very nice with a double bed that was comfortable to sleep in, on suite facilities, a television and wi-fi plug sockets. The full english breakfast was very tasty to eat and the staff very friendly. The only fault was the pull down lights next to our bed which would not turn off without tissue paper being put into the cranny. My wife told the maintenance men about the problem and was told it was a new addition to the bedroom facilities but they would look into the problem. Overall though a very pleasant stay and we would go again if in the area..
We didnt stay at the hotel after a very poor experience. Too dirty for us. The exterior is beautiful and the hotel could be fantastic it needs money spending and a decent maintenance person to fix the broken fittings. Eg the chandelier in the room right of reception the fixtures are half way down the wiring. Very very disappointing. I didnt get the opportunity to sample what looked like beautiful countryside as we had to drive home the same night I refuse to sleep in a dirty shabby room. The carpets were filthy all over, they looked like oil had been spilt o them in main walkways.
We only visited and stayed at the Redworth Hall hotel which was very good. Ideal for our trips around the county. Durham cathedral was great, but we visited the castles, Middleham, Barnard and Richmond. We particularly liked Middleham castle and village. Richmond was also a lovely town. An excellent pub for food was the George and Dragon at Heighington village nearby.
It's a new town so to be blunt there's nothing really to see in Newton Aycliffe itself. However, if you're coming for work or to see friends and family it's easy enough to get to and the large Tesco provides everything you might need to keep the Wolf from the door. Newcastle, Durham, North Yorkshire Moors, North Pennine and various castles, country houses and other visitor attractions are within easy reach.
Bad : Poor cleanliness of the rooms i.e.- Substantial staining on worn carpets and over bedding in two rooms Multiple cracked tiles in bathroom at the safety grab handle room 319 20 x tiny clothes moths in room Dirty towels from previous guests ? room 412 Dirty cutlery x 4 at the evening meal -dishwasher overloading issue? Let this hotel down badly; spoiled the visit left early didn't stay for breakfast I'm a regular traveller this was well below par not up to premiere inn's OK level of cleanliness Good: Spa facilities well kept and lovely new bar area in the spa Evening meal good, service good, staff nice and friendly. Parking ok Beautiful old manor house façade. Real fire was lit in the front hall
Serving staff on the whole were not very interested or helpful. The building itself is amazing but could do with updating on the inside. One does need a car to get around as it is not near any shops ect.
Newton Aycliffe
Everything has been thought of - we arrived just before 10 pm - and with the grandchildren and it was so homely and the wee ones settled down for the night with ease - the area is right in the middle of Newton Aycliffe a short walk from the shops but it's really quiet and peaceful. There's games in the living room so the kids were well entertained. We would normally stay in a hotel in the area when coming down to visit family- we have found staying at Bewick Crescent to be more relaxing and will definitely be back.
The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and a very beautiful old building, within the hotel it houses a very nice gym and pool and a maze of rooms, mine was on the 2nd floor and although next to the lift it was quiet enough. The breakfast was very nice and the staff very accommodating

Family friendly, really cute, comfy little house. Loved that it allowed us to be more relaxed than in just a hotel room. Incredible value for money, would 100%recommend!!
