Orton Hall Hotel & Spa, The Bell Inn, Stilton, Cambridgeshire, and Black Horse got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Peterborough.
The centre of town is beautiful- old buildings around the central square. The cathedral is well worth a visit- helpful and welcoming staff, and good temporary exhibitions. It was also quite warm on a very cold day! Otherwise it's a bit sad really- the usual shopping arcade and cafe's. Maybe I should have walked along the river, but it was -3.
It was a quick trip for us for one night as we were showing our golden retrievers at the Peterborough champion show which was 5 minutes down the road. There were shops and eateries next door .also the rooms were really clean and well equipped we will stay there again
some, pretty architecture with the cathedral and other buildings around, and some good shops nearby. Unfrotunately appears to be a deprived area with much antisocial activity left unchacked on more than one occasion
The cathedral is certainly worth a visit. Very Ornate and a beautiful building. Lots to see and wonderful history tied to it. The city is very much like many large towns and cities now. .. Same shops, coffee shop chains and charity shops. Though a city that can be explored further afield, the Riverside, ferrymeadows,
Nice place to visit! Queensgate shopping centre is very good! Lots of great shops but not enough toilets! Also lots of shops outside the centre. Really enjoy visiting Peterborough We ate at a Harvester in Alwalton, food was delicious and competitive prices
Our main object was to meet a friend and to see the cathedral. We stayed at the Best Western Bull Hotel in Westgate. The hotel was clean, comfortable, served a very good evening meal and breakfast, and was conveniently located for the cathedral and shopping centre. The cathedral is a superb example of Norman architecture and well worth spending 1.5 hours or so looking around. The adjoining square is a lovely environment. The Bumble in Westgate is a nice, quiet real ale micro-pub with a good feel about it. It makes a change to be able to converse without having to shout above a noisy clientele. The Brewery Tap at the far west end of Westgate serves superb Thai dishes and keeps its Oakham Ales in good condition.
The location of the hotel, being out of town, is good for those not looking to be in the city centre. Free parking makes it an ideal location for those looking to drive/taxi into the town. The room and public spaces were very clean and tidy. The leisure centre was good, and one of the reasons for choosing this hotel and why I would stay again. Breakfast was good with a lot of options, and the chef was accommodating of veggie requests, staff working very hard to keep breakfast items replenished and guests seated as soon as possible.
We loved our stay. Hotel clean and neat. The service and staff make this a place to relax and enjoy. In particular our lovely lunch waitress who arranged a birthday surprise for my husband which was a so wonderful and complete surprise as well as the lovely young lady that served us drinks in the bar. All the staff were so helpful and kind. Hotel is on the older side BUT so clean and neat and if you are in Peterborough is the place to stay. Thank you for a relaxing weekend birthday mini break.
The hotel was situated within a short walking distance from the city centre, with bus stops close by with a regular service by numerous buses to the bus station in the centre, near the railway station. My standard double room was a good size, clean with a very comfortable bed. A good hot, self service breakfast was provided in a large area on the ground floor, which was also the bar and restaurant during the day.
Scones and tea in the sunny courtyard made a lovely end to our drive : a chance to unwind. Dinner was casual but very good: arrived quickly and was very tasty. Everything about the hotel made it an excellent choice for travellers wishing to break a long journey north. Very accessible for A1. Genuinely old and characterful. Friendly, efficient service; warm and welcoming hospitality. The travellers' rest.
Staff were lovely and helped us to relax. The room was basic but excellent value for money. Great breakfast. 2 restaurants on site and walking distance to others. It's a beautiful building set in beautiful grounds and easily accessible. Spa was great. Pool was a great size. Peterborough is great for eating and shopping too with a beautiful Cathedral.
The position of the hotel is lovely and has great views over the Rowing Lake from the restaurant, bar and terrace. It is a lovely, quiet part of Peterborough. The food, although fairly standard pub fair, was very good and the buffet breakfast was also very good. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.
