The Merchants House is located in Pittenweem. The property is 31 miles from Ingliston. Location. Modern décor and style. Spacious. Good TV and WIFI. View from the upper room. Excellent kitchen appliances, equipment and crockery. Super bathroom fittings. Comfortable sofa. Handy vacuum. Smart speaker was a good idea. When we'd worked out how to operate the radiators (central heating) the rooms were warm and cozy. It is a beautiful building. Half a pint of milk in the fridge and chocolate teacakes!

Pittenweem is well placed centrally among the attractive seaside villages in the East Neuk, not to mention St Andrews and Kircaldy. The season opens on 1 April, and prior to that a number of the restaurants and cafes are not open, or not doing food, so it's a good idea to do some reasearch and bookings before you set out. Highlights were the Ship Inn in Elie and The Waterfront in nearby Anstruther, but there are many attractive tea shops to rest feet wearied by the many steep hills which are such a picturesque feature of the Fife coast.
Small, quiet village with a lovely harbour, good walking and interesting houses and alleyways. Very useful village hub selling groceries. Very near Anstruther which has a lot more facilities, including a large Co-op. On a good bus route, very handy for getting to the start of a stretch of the coastal path or back from one.
good base for visiting the fife coast. Pretty little fishing town. Downside is that there appears to be only 1 restaurant and 1 pub. the Dory restaurant was amazing best fish resaurant .Great walking along the coastal paths to next towns.
The West End Pub was very friendly and welcoming. There was a nice 30 minute walk into Anstruther along the coast. Good base for exploring the nearby villages. On the coastal path walking towards St Monans there is a lovey viewing point of the Firth of Forth with crazy golf course and park for children.
This fishing village has everything you need for a coastal stay. There are restaurants, takeaways and shops for necessities also interesting craft shops. The coastal walks are stunning, with lovely villages along the way.
What I like about pittenweem is the people they are so friendly and approachable. The town is steeped in folk history. During our stay we were just coming out of lockdown so places to eat and drink were outside only. We are hoping to improve on our next visit. Which I hope will be sooner rather than later. I would recommend a visit to pittenweem and surrounding area. A great place to visit. They do a great fish tea in the boat at anstruther which has a lovely beer garden a 15 min walk along coast from pittenweem. Beautiful weather during day but can get nippy at night so take a good warm wrap. If you like golf there is the Charlton or a 9 hole in Anstruther. Worth a visit.
Pittenweem
Great location with plenty of good walks on the door step and only a 10min walk into the local town of Pittenweam and on to the costal paths. So much on the door step by car too and great outdoor area to make use of in the lovely weather we were luck to have on our visit.
