Located in Polruan, a 16-minute walk from Readymoney Cove Beach and 1.3 miles from Coombe Haven Beach, Polmarine provides river views and free WiFi. From the moment we arrived, we were met by the most helpful staff who made us feel at home. The location and setting is exceptional and our room was lovely and spacious. We will certainly be visiting again!
Within one mile of Readymoney Cove Beach and 1.5 miles of Coombe Haven Beach, Pentire, on the coastal path has free WiFi and a garden. The house was spotlessly clean and is nicely furnished and equipped. Lovely terrace which gets the afternoon and evening sun. Views from the coast path a few metres from the house are stunning. Polruan is a very historic fishing village with lots of lane and alleys to explore, and a working quay, with a shipyard and lots of boats coming and going. Part of it's charm is that it is very car-unfriendly, and you may have to park at the top of the hill in a carpark, so it's not a good base if you want to use your car a lot, but this makes it very nice to ramble around. The quay is a combination of industry and tourism, and can be noisy with welding from the shipyard. There are two sandy beaches in the town, both small, and they get covered at high tide. You can spend a pleasant evening with a pint and takeaway sitting on the quay and watching the world go by. There are two pubs, a sandwich/snack shop and a brilliant bakery. You can also walk along the coastal path or the estuary - Lantic Beach is an energetic couple of miles, and is a picturesque pebble beach. You can get the ferry over to Fowey and there are plenty of touristy shops and restaurants to explore there. We had two lovely meals at the Dwelling House in Fowey and Sams on the Beach in Polkerris.
Lovely little village that's tucked away from the hustle and bustle. Pubs that serve food at the bottom of the hill, next to the harbour. A main village shop half way up the hill, post office next to the harbour too. Small beach area during low tide, ferry running daily between Polruan and Fowey and plenty of walks along the coast
Polruan is a lovely little harbour village. Getting there is very challenging through very narrow single track roads with not a lot of passing places and high hedges. It is very hilly and parking is at the top end of the village so could be a challenge for anyone who has mobility problems. The property we stayed in has no parking facility which is the same for a lot of the harbour front cottages, therefore you have to park in one of the public payable car parks up the hill.
Stunning, friendly and relaxing place to visit. Great access to Fowey to do a bit of extra sight seeing. However, parking and driving around Polruan can be challenging so really plan where you will be parking, and pack light in case you need to carry things from your car to your accommodation.
Beautiful village but lots of steep hills so need to be pretty fit...no traditional takeaways but 2 local pubs offer take away service. Fantastic ferry service to Fowey. Choose accommodation wisely and check reviews!!
Lovely quiet Cornish village especially in winter. All the locals very friendly with Crumpets tea room making excellent cornish pasties . There are 2 pubs very close to the Quay both of which provide good food and great company. Dogs are always welcomed.
