Great base for our long weekend in North Yorkshire. Lovely market town - nice shopping and cafes and the castle is well worth a visit. beautiful location and views from the city walls/castle over the surrounding countryside. easy to get to/in/around and highly recommended.
Richmond is a beautiful market town with enough to do in the immediate area eg castle, museum, theatre, restaurants and pubs, but also has good walks to nearby places of interest eg Easby Abbey. You can also drive to Leyburn, Middleham, Masham, Hawes, Aysgarth which are also of interest.
Loved everything about Richmond,it’s full of charm and the visit to the castle ruins was lovely that it was open again ,Easby Abby is beautiful, they are plenty of shops ,bars and places to eat out ,I would definitely recommend Richmond.

Phew where too start. Richmond has loads of historic buildings, it has many attractions so a walk around Richmond is worthwhile. A historical walk is available from the excellent Tourist information office in the Market Hall. That itself is worth a visit. Walks along the river are beautiful especially if the river is in spate. The museum is again full of history but interesting for all ages as they have scenes from recent history that brings it all to life. Richmond is a great base from which one could tour the Yorkshire countryside.
Richmond Castle -Historically, is one of the oldest stone castles in England -Very interesting and staff very informative, The Station - Beautifully restored - There is a cinema, cafe bar and art gallery. Lovely river walks along the River Swale The Green Howard Museum was very informative. Plus we have had fabulous weather which was a great start!
Richmond
The Castle House is next to the market square in Richmond - but despite that, in a quiet secluded location. The rooms are distinctive (quirky is the owner description) and the whole place full of character. The extras - soaps, teas etc are 'quality' which just adds to a feeling of being treated as a special guest. Everything good - breakfast was super. Good value.
Large luxurious room and en-suite which you may not want to leave but if you do it's only a short walk to the centre of Richmond and all it has to offer including the castle which was well worth a visit, and only a short drive to the Yorkshire Dales National Park with it's stunning views.
Richmond
Very beautiful little village in the Yorkshire dales. Good walks from the door along the valley or up onto the moors. Excellent evening meal and lavish and delicious breakfast. Lovely west facing garden with sheep and ducks beyond the drystone wall and a view down the valley.
Historic charm with modern facilities (best to check with hotel on what each room has as there are different grades) Perfect location in Richmond easy walking distance to attractions but in a fairly quiet street. Cosy high quality restaurant. Ideal for couples
Richmond

Richmond
Good and friendly pub. Just what you need after a long drive. Food was what you would expect in a Yorkshire pud. Lots of it, quickly searved and good quaility. Convenience due to its nearness to the major roads, but still quiet and peaceful.
The location was great. The hotel made a marvellous base for exploring Richmond's beautiful Georgian heritage; or at least it would have done had it not rained for most of my short stay ...
