Robertsbridge is a very pretty olde worlde village and central to many places of interest. Visit Bodiam Castle, Pashley Manor Gardens, Bateman's (Rudyard Kipling's house), Smallhythe Place, Great Dixter and of course the south coast, Bexhill, Hastings etc. The George Hotel is excellent, with lovely furnishings, delicious food - and a great welcome from Jane and John. We thoroughly recommend a short stay here.
Close to lots of interesting places, ideal for discovering the South east, so much history! Hastings,Eastbourne and other seaside towns within one hours drive. The White Dog at Ewhurst Green (a beautiful little village) well worth a visit, the cheesecake was too good, just to drive around these villages was joy itself........darling buds of May country!
Robertsbridge was a wonderful surprise, had not been before and we were delighted with the lovely period buildings and unspoiled. Nice and quiet but with a nice community feeling to it. Lovely walks around the town. It is well positioned for visiting other nearby places too.
A lovely village with it's own history to read up on. Within easy reach of Bateman's, Rudyard Kipling's house, well worth a visit. also Sissinghurst Castle and gardens. There are many more places to visit all within easy distance.
You need a car to get to the tourist parts like the castle and eats out unless you are a fit walker unlike myself. For short walks the lanes are pretty and worth doing on a sunny day. Surrounded by so much beauty. We ate at the White Dog Inn and the food was cooked to perfection. This is at Ewhurst Green a 10 minute drive from Robertsbridge. You can also hire electric bikes out at The Hub which is just down the road from Udiam Farm. We ran out of time to try this. Next time though.
What a sweet little place to visit. The George Inn is a nice friendly run pub with lovely rooms for a short stay. The breakfast here were lovely and a good selection of Gins to try in the bar. (although not at breakfast! perhaps!)
Robertsbridge
Headed to Rye and we were recommended to pull in at The George Inn at Robertsbridge. Lovely character village and Inn, clearly popular. Food was fantastic and locally sourced, even a local lager to offer. Really lovely decor to the place and the rooms are tastefully done and looked like fairly recently. John and Jane are great hosts and their staff were wonderfully welcoming. Full marks to Amy In looking after us at dinner and breakfast.
The apartment is conveniently located in the middle of Robertsbridge, close to the railway station and with ample parking space too. It is well equipped and is clean, tidy and well maintained. Furniture is comfortable and the decor is clean and fresh. The bed was excellent. Communications from the owner were friendly and informative, and the gift of a bottle of Prosecco was very much appreciated.
