an historic town, which appeals to me, including a cathedral with it's history. Lots of choices for eating. Park also enjoyable. Sometimes the success of a place brings too many people, certainly the centre was a bit too busy for my liking, but a nice place and crowds are the result I guess.
The cathedral is beautiful and well worth a visit . Lots of restaurants and pubs Verulamium park was nice with play area for kids . Unfortunately the museum was closed on Sunday . Walked round the Roman theatre if Verulamium which cost £3 each interesting
It wasn't what i expected but that's not the places fault, It was a Saturday and there was a market on and it was very busy. The idea I had of this small historical town which would be fascinating to wander round turned into a pipe dream. Traffic goes all the way through the centre of town and was very busy. I was hoping to see some of the roman ruins and the park but research *too late* discovered it was a 17 minute walk out of town and there was no way the other half was attempting to drive through the chaos of the town centre so that was a bit disappointing. As I said not the places fault I should not have assumed that everything was in the centre and planned better. There's plenty of shops to look in even if they are mostly chains I was expecting something a bit different from what it was.
The best thing was the warm friendly reception! You can go for a walk to Saint Albans Abbey just over the road. Great location! There was nothing that I didn't like about this hotel! It was great!!
St Albans is a really interesting place. Lots of amazing Roman archaeology, the museum's display archaeology that has been found in the area. In Verulamium Park there are the remains of the Roman City wall, and a beautiful Roman mosaic. Beautiful ancient Cathedral dedicated to the first English saint, Alban. Winding streets full of character. Plenty of places to eat, I recommend The Ivy.
Lovely interesting city. Cathedral warrants several visits to appreciate. Plenty of eating places to choose from and the shops are not just "run of the mill" We did not have long enough to enjoy the city on this visit but may return for longer another time.
St. Albans
In a great location, a stone’s throw from all the city centre shops and restaurants. The apartment is extremely well appointed with everything we needed, great full kitchen, large screen tv, comfortable beds and pillows, and some other lovely touches like bath robes and large bath towels. The service was excellent, with a courtesy call a couple of days before and being met at the apartment on arrival. All this for less than the cost of two hotel rooms, so excellent value for money.
Excellent Location, Few minutes walk to the city centre, Lovely views, Had all the things needed. Host was very friendly and responsive. Apartment was very clean and tidy and it looks like a brand new building. Definitely will stay here again and recommend to anyone.
The breakfast was delicious. The grounds are also stunning with a beautiful view from the terrace. The spa is also stunning - spacious, clean, luxurious and pretty quiet in the evenings. This is the second time we've stayed at the hotel and would return indeed.
St. Albans
Warm welcome and lovely room. Useful kitchen one can use. Plenty of good parking but difficult to find entrance which is off a side road. Large room and location perfect if you wish to avoid the chain hotels
Hotel very central to meet our needs. Staff very helpful Only fault for us was the lack of availability of a traditional English Breakfast.
Heated mirror in bathroom. Great bed. Nice lounge area and space to sit outside, if required. Spacious lifts. Modern feel to hotel.
