Shop staff in the Londis store were very friendly and extremely helpful, as were the staff in Boots as I needed supplies for a cut foot. The staff in Pendletons restaurant were very pleasant and accommodating even though I did not have a reservation, and the food was good. The staff in the Vernons Tea room were not very helpful and were keen to get rid of you. I was there when they held the street parades which were excellent and really made it a special time to be there. Shanklin Chine is lovely particularly after dark when it is lit up, the tea room serves light bites up till 9pm. Everywhere was very clean and cared for so well worth a visit.
I love Shanklin and have been coming here since I was a child in the 1970s. Great beach, beautiful views from the clifftop, excellent hiking, good eating and decent public transport links (although the buses are a bit pricey on the island as a whole). Plenty of options for dining in the Old Village and along the esplanade, and some standard high street shops in the newer part, and a standard array of takeaways such as pizza, burgers, Indian etc.
Plenty of shops and places to eat along Shanklin High Street and Regent Street. The Esplanade was also a great place to visit not just for the shops but the arcades too, where we spent a few hours before stopping for ice-cream. Would recommend Amici's Italian restaurant (High Street) as a great place to eat. Friendly staff, the food was very fresh and the portions generous. Very good value for money too. Our hosts recommended the Happy Haddock as a place to eat for fish and chips. It was tasty and the fish was fresh, but the large chip portion was very disappointing with barely enough for 4 adults (usually this would afford us plenty), 2 of which don't tend to eat that many chips anyway!! The ordering process also seemed a little convoluted so there was no way to see exactly what was being packed into the bag for collection, which would have alerted us to the need to ask for more chips!! Whilst there we booked to see 'Beyond The West End' Show at Shanklin Theatre, which was fantastic and just as good as any London West End Show, so would recommend a visit.
Shanklin is beautiful. We didn't discover the main town until the last day but spent most of out time on the beach anyway. Highly recommend Bayside fish and chips, delicious and good prices Shanklin Chine was stunning, we went during the day and again in the evening when it's all lit up.
Has the old traditional town, which has character with thatched roofs. The chine is a great place to visit both in the day and darkness. It has many places to eat and drink. Entertainment in them too. Down the cliff is the esplanade where there are seaside facilities. There is also the unique Fisherman’s pub on the beach too.
Quaint town with lots of restaurants and good beach. We ate in Pavarotti's in town and Fisherman's Cottage on the seafront - both of which we would recommend. Would definitely advise booking restaurants before you travel.
Lovely property with sea views, well positioned for Shanklin beach and old town. This is easily the nicest of the few hotels adjacent so we were pleased we chose this one. Had a small outdoor pool and an indoor pool that fits 7 max. Kids loved it. Staff were very polite and helpful although I think it was a hard a for them and they are lacking some experienced staff but I expect this will improved in time. Gemma the Manger was excellent and very attentive. Breakfast was great.
Shanklin
Absolutely incredible service. All the staff are very attentive and the owners couldn't possibly be more kind, welcoming and helpful. Neither my partner or I could fault anything about our stay at The Cliff Hall Hotel in the slightest. We were very sad to be leaving but have already booked to return next year. If you choose this hotel which I recommend you do then it will be an excellent choice whether you are a single person or a family.
Shanklin
Mike and Carol were brilliant hosts and made us feel at home. This was honestly home away from home. The house is so authentically Victorian, and the room was no different. The facilities were awesome as well. The breakfast was also very tasty and hearty. Another delight is the location, with the beach a few steps down and the old village of Shanklin less than a 5 minute walk away. My wife and I absolutely loved it.
Shanklin
Peaceful, self contained accommodation with private garden decking area. Very comfortable with everything you need. Beautiful decor. Excellent shower. Helpful owner, though we never met but was always available by text if needed. Free parking in residential road. Easy walking access to the sea and shanklin seafront (10 minutes). Great location to drive to other parts of island, especially Ventnor and West Wight.
Without exception, all staff members were cheery and helpful. By the end of or four nights, we felt like family. As well as the included breakfast, hot coffee, tea, biscuits and fruit were layed out 24hrs per day for residents to partake. Location was right in the old town part of Shanklin.. Ideal for a beach stroll, The Shanklin Chine and a multitude of restaurants.
Shanklin
The quirkyness of the B & B. The bar area was lovely as was the garden. Lesley and Chrstine were lovely as was Simon but to be honest we did not see an awful lot if him. Breakfast was lovely although a little.more variety to fruit & cereals would be nice. Maybe introduce croissants and yoghurts to the menu. Great lication for both Old Village and Shanklin beach.
Shanklin
Host Chris and Luke were amazing and really helpful. Breakfast was superb, beds and pillows were comfy. Lemon drizzle cake was cherry on the top. We got really good discount on ferry and Chris was kind enough to amend our booking last minute. Thanks so much for making our stay memorable in Shanklin. Hope to see you soon.
The choice of food at breakfast was excellent, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is in an ideal location overlooking the sea and a short walk to the beach and old village with good car parking. The gardens were well kept and tended and make a loverly location to sit outside in the summer evenings.
Good Location - I had a room with a Sea View, though a little loud at busier points it was lovely to look out over the sea. It was easy to get in and out of the hotel, due to a convenient side access.
