Went to visit the theatre and walked around the town during the day. Had a real nice meal locally by the river and no shortage of places to visit. On the Sunday we visited Shrewsbury Jail which was well worth a visit.
The Hotel was friendly and convenient for all attractions and for quick cheap food, the hotel receptionist gave us the best advice re parking and eating out, the town was picturesque by day and by night. Parking in the town is very expensive the hotel told us about free overnight and Sunday parking at a local site. we were disappointed re eating out on Saturday night as everywhere was booked solid. The Weatherspoon's was always available for a budget meal good choice and well prepared.
Lovely town. Just the right size for sightseeing without walking to far between things to see. Very interesting and old. Clean streets. Loved the river walk and the walk along the wall. Shrewsbury Castle is a must see at a reasonable price. Easy to find places of interest as all in a circle inside the river. Great variety of places to eat and shops to visit.
Shrewsbury is a real gem of a town! Lots of character as a result of many Elizabethan buildings. Loads of good restaurants and pubs. Great walks around the river. I'd recommend a visit to the prison. Really interesting!
Shrewsbury is a stunning medieval market town … there is so much to see and do…from shopping, restaurants and bars, historical places, a beautiful quarry (park) to walk around and the dingle within it is simply stunning …. Well worth a visit as is the whole county of Shropshire.
We travelled with our dogs and despite this there were lots of lovely places to eat and drink indoors. The path by the river is also a nice place for a dog walk. If travelling without dogs the indoor market is a good place to visit, we have been there before but not on this occasion as it is not dog friendly.
This is, I believe, quite simply the best hotel in Shrewsbury. A wonderful quirky building that combines the best of a lovely old building with modern convenience and comfort. Whilst I did not use the restaurant during my stay for anything other than breakfast - on the basis of this it is providing high quality food. There are also a selection of bars on the ground floor. The bedroom was very stylish and well equipped - and of a good size with a nice bathroom. Staff were friendly and efficient.
This hotel's location is ideal as in the centre of Shrewsbury and within a couple of minutes of town centre. However it is situated down a cobbled street so no noise at night. A great welcome, with glass of sherry and room was ideal for us with very comfy double bed and large bathroom. Bonus of member of staff driving our car to car park so we could unload luggage at door.
Good location next to the station and also for walking straight into Shrewsbury town centre Also handy for the bus station, just a short walk around the corner Friendly and helpful staff Great value for money Room facilities were good for the price, including iron and ironing board Hotel flexible about my stay
Shrewsbury
It’s a lovely listed house, very old but beautiful nonetheless. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room were quite large and very clean and tastefully decorated. The breakfast room was wonderful and they had lots of options with the hot breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Louise was very friendly and helpful with plenty of info about the both the immediate area and Shrewsbury. Good breakfast choice and excellent quality. Excellent location within easy walking distance of the city centre. Home made cake plus readily available fresh milk and water are nice touches.
I had a day out in Shrewsbury with an evening concert at Theatre Seven. Hotel in excellent location for both shopping and theatre. I had an early breakfast in the bar and it was better than I might have expected. Found parking at Frankwell Quay very handy.
This is a lovely hotel with a lot of history related to the Battle of Shrewsbury. As a single traveller I would have preferred a little bit of a discount but that's not to be complained about. Great pizza.. Good breakfast too
Lovely room adjacent to main hotel. Very large room + bathroom with a dressing area. Loved having a swim+ staff really friendly. Great location to visit Shrewsbury .
The Lion Hotel is a wonderful old building steeped in history. It is located at the heart of the town centre on a street full of independent shops.

Really great location for exploring Shrewsbury town, and very warm and comfortable on a cold December weekend.
Staff rude! Rooms freezing cold! Breakfast shocking I would avoid this hotel at all costs.
