Upon seeing Swansea for the first time, it hits you just how green it is, especially when viewed from Kilvey Hill. On a clear day the views stretch as far as sweeping Swansea Bay and even the undulating Mumbles headland at the edge of the Gower Peninsula - the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with unspoilt beaches.
The Gower is also known for its castles, including Oystermouth Castle and Loughor Castle, overlooking the city from a hilltop. Swansea itself also has castle ruins which are Grade I listed, as is the Guildhall with its lavish interior frescoes.
Most historic city centre buildings were sadly lost during World War II, but the elegant Grand Theatre survived, as did Dylan Thomas’ childhood home in Uplands. The Swansea Museum – the oldest in Wales – is opposite the National Waterfront Museum and the LC indoor waterpark.
Offshore conditions are good for kitesurfing, and the marina shelters yachts overlooked by Wales’ tallest building: The Tower, Meridian Quay. The nearby SA1 Waterfront complex is becoming popular for its bars and restaurants, while shopping options include a covered market and the Morfa Shopping Park by Liberty Stadium, home to the city’s football and rubgy union teams.

Not only was it a wonderful centre you could access many locations throughout Wales by using the Bus and Train Stations.
There is a great restaurant called Madeira opposite the Dragon Hotel; Prezzo on Mumbles sea front is only a short bus ride away. There is a huge Marks and Spencer’s nearby for a snack and several Costa Coffee’s as well as Coffee#1 just across the road. We did not have dinner in the Dragon Hotel this time, but have done on many occasions over the years and highly recommend it - especially the faggots!

Were were there for 6 days. Swansea was our base in Southern Wales. easy drive to explore marvellous mumbles and city of Cardiff. During our visit, Ironman 70.3 Swansea was happening. So there were roads closures.
It was nice strolling at the marina pop into local cafe. There were few small museums but we did not go because already tired walking.

Swansea is a good base to access other places and the hotel...
Swansea is a good base to access other places and the hotel location is nice and central. Car park charge is unnecessary. Getting around is easy, plenty of parks and open spaces with lits for families to do. Plenty of places to food shop if you're not in a hotel. Definitely a city with lots of young people due to the Universities. Lots of improvement work going on. Nice walk along the seafront (but watch water quality information if you intend to swim - better beaches for swimming within easy reach). Marina nice to walk round but could improve eating places. Go along to Mumbles for more choice and better quality. If you want nightlife/pubs, it is conveniently located together in one main street.
I had lived in Swansea during the 90's so the location and price were deciding factors. I had also stayed there during the 80's when a great heart stopper breakfast was offered! Always a big plus. Sadly no more.
If you're a light sleeper the weekend may be a problem for you as the hotel is near the huge Swansea club scene. Cheap and cheerful with pleasant staff. I think a beer and a bite available 24/7. I enjoyed my stay.
The Georgian Swansea is beautifully designed and decorated and in an excellent location. The room was clean with a very comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and helpful. I had a good breakfast in the neighbouring Morgans Hotel. Parking in Bath Lane was easy and just a short walk to the hotel.
- Good price for location
- Friendly staff
- Nice cleaning service on the daily basis
- Tesco across the road working till 11 pm
- Even visually seems to be one of the best hotels to stay in Swansea
