We loved our stay at Anchor Hotel! Our room had a beautiful view over the habour. It was very clean, comfortable and the staff were very friendly. We could walk to dinner- a great place called Lullabelle’s on the foreshore. Short drive to Kennacraig ferry. Great breakfast too. Highly recommend!

From the first step inside it feels homely. Not just the room, also the breakfast area, warm and authentic. The room was clean and the bed really comfy. Right on the harbour promenade, easy for trips to Islay or other islands. A few restaurants and a bar just around the corner too. Breakfast cooked by Mark was a real highlight, proper chef stuff. Congrats Mark looks like you found the fountain of youth for yourself. Thanks Mark and Aby for your kind hospitality.

Familiar with Tarbert for years.

Familiar with Tarbert for years. While it is pleasant to see local facilities and housing upgraded, its best characteristics are based on history and the fact that it is still an active fishing port..Were it to become something like Tobermory, Culross or in parts, Portree, it would lose a great deal of its charm and purpose.

Stairs in house and incline to get in the house. They make you well aware of that when booking. We were up early to catch a ferry - provided a generous bagged breakfast. Whole place has so much personality. Would definitely recommend.

Attractive fishing village with marina, castle ruins and good independent shops. Excellent stop over while exploring the Mull of Kintyre. Easy parking, good choice of restaurants and clean simple accommodation.

This was just an overnight stop on our way to Islay from...

This was just an overnight stop on our way to Islay from Glasgow - we took an afternoon bus to Tarbert and got private transport to Kennakraig ferry terminal the morning after. The town was lovely, with a nice castle and a couple of good restaurants as well as a pub with plenty of whisky options. We might have even stayed a bit longer had we known it was such a lovely place.

Tarbert was a location I needed to visit for my book project...

Tarbert was a location I needed to visit for my book project. I had been here before. It is close to Saddell Abbey and Skipness Castle and the Tarbert Castle in town is worth the climb. Tarbert's history is also iinteresting.

The saving grace for this hotel was the food was very good, and the view over the harbour was stunnjng. We had Bed and Breakfast and ate in the restaurant each night for dinner. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
