Threkeld is a small village with a couple of pubs with not much else there. However, it is a great location to visit the lakes and nearby Keswick and Carlisle. It is a popular choice for walkers and cyclists. We stayed at the Horse and Farrier in Threkeld which was lovely old traditional style pub with accommodation. The food was excellent! It is advisable go book if you want to eat there as the pub was busy every night with diners. I would definitely recommend staying there.
Stayed at Horse and Farrier Staff were helpful efficient and attentive and went over and above . Room was clean . Food was good - perhaps need option of smaller portions of main courses ? They were delicious but large , so couldn’t manage a dessert !! Snacks - range of cashew nuts , different flavours - lovely with a nice glass of wine Dog friendly - so many lovely dogs . Walked into Keswick and back along railway walk . There’s a bus X4/5 that goes to Keswick / return Hired electric bikes in Keswick and had half a day cycling . Short drive to grasmere and Ambleside - more good walks , cafes and pubs Excellent pub / B and B - stayed 3 times
Threlkeld is a quiet place ,plenty to.do from mountain climbing to country walks to relaxation. By car it is easy getting around different places. For eating out there are many eateries in Keswick we chose wetherspoons in Keswick, nicely priced and food couldn't be faltered nor the service.
Small quiet village a few miles outside Keswick, in the shadows of Blencathra, along the coast to coast cycle route, recommend a visit to the Horse and Farrier for great food and drinks, plenty of walking hiking trails nearby, with easy access to the M6 and the southern lake district
Threlkeld is convenient for access to Keswick and the wider Lake district. It is only a short distance from Thirlmere, with lakes and mountain walks. I did not see much of the immediate area as we were engaged in activities at Thirlmere, so cannot really review the area.
Never been to Threlkeld before and was concerned but it was great, and so close by car to everywhere we wanted to go too. Right near A66, for Keswick, Ulswater, Coniston Buttermere, Ambleside, and Grasmere.. great base for walkers, hikers, cycles and everyone made welcome plus the dog 🥰
The location was excellent in the centre of Threlkeld, handy for walking and sight seeing. The kitchen is well appointed and the bedrooms small but comfortable - beds very good! The sloping bathroom floor enabled us to feel drunk without any alcohol consumption. Small garden at front allowed us to sit out though the weather was rather blustery while we were there.
Didn't really know what to expect. As bunkhouses go I feel it was o.k. but for the price I paid which exceeded a later stay in a hotel I wasn't impressed. The beds, however, were comfortable enough and the bedding I paid extra for was clean and soft. Felt the place in general was clean and covid safe.

The hospitality and service from all staff was good, polite and accommodating (give a shout out to Adam😀) a great choice of tasty well cooked food from the menu and location of the hotel was spot on. The cheese and wine hamper on the last evening was a lovely unexpected bonus
Very spacious property, easy walk to Threlkeld for evening meals and close to lots of great walking. Will definitely return!
Fantastic location for Threlkeld to Keswick walk along the old rail path and for walking up Blencathra.
It was very clean and an amazing view! Good location near village with pub. Quiet with thick walls.
