Wow! My first trip to England & Bury St Edmunds! Brimming with country English charm. Very old building with modern bathrooms. Located in the center of stores, coffee shops, Cathedral and gardens. Very walkable and friendly. Traditional English breakfasts, delicious and filling, set for the day! Great pub and the Sunday Roast is phenomenal! Don't miss! The manager & her staff were so accommodating, friendly and fun to share stories! I will return to The Bushel!

After a bit of meandering (on foot) to find the place, I was pleasantly surprised. It is an old building (Tudor?) but the room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the cotton linens soft, there were even robe and slippers in the room. The breakfast was good, the lady who greeted me and served breakfast was friendly and welcoming. Overall it was a great one night stay.

The room was beautiful. The location was spot on. We had a meal there and the food was really good. Bit busy but it was a nice atmosphere. Staff seemed a bit rushed but the welcome by a staff member was lovely

Staff were lovely, but during breakfast they only had one poor chap running around to sort stuff. The buffet breakfast was not restocked as it was clear there was no time, therefore we did not have any. The crushed avocado was actually guacamole?, not a problem for us but for those with allergies it might be. The evening meal was lovely and reasonably priced. The room was clean, but attention to detail was evident as there was cobwebs above the shower.

I most enjoyed the friendly, but not pushy staff and the relaxed informal atmosphere.
I was in the area to attend a funeral about half an hours drive away and associated family get together so I did not get to spend much time in the immediate area.
If you like the English countryside and an English pub atmosphere I would recommend it as a place to stay. The beer was good too!

The online blurb was a little over-inflated.
The online blurb was a little over-inflated. To be allocated a disabled access room when staff members are using the other rooms shows that if the hospitality industry is suffering due to the pandemic, The White Horse isn't doing a lot to get it back on track. Also, if you suggest a menu is available, it really should be. It's too late to find out that it's been reduced, whatever the reason, once you've arrived and checked-in. As normal in the U.K. the guest comes a pretty poor second to the requirements of staff, or, as in this case, management.
