Located in Lower Chicksgrove, 2 miles from Tisbury, Compasses Inn offers accommodations with free parking, free Wi-Fi, a pub, and a restaurant. A picture perfect thatched pub with rooms, we had a perfect one night get away xx the bedroom was spacious and comfy, the bathroom was modern and everything was spotlessly clean. We had a meal in the pub which was excellent and would thoroughly recommend. You would need to book a table as it’s a popular eating place with locals as well as visitors. We took our dogs who were welcomed and most people staying had dogs with them.

Lovely village in delightful countryside. There is a post office, supermarket with a cashpoint, fish and chip shop, chemist and great tearoom....Beatons Nearby are lovely pubs and Old Wardour Castle. It does not take long to get to Salisbury, Longleat or to the South Coast. Surrounding lanes are narrow and careful driving is needed but you pass through some charming villages.
Tisbury is a large village with many unexpected amenities. It is within easy distance to many places of interest and, if preferred method of travel, it is on the main railway line from London to Exeter. Can highly recommend the friendly atmosphere of The Boot for the evening meal.
Host was warm ,welcoming and helpful. Cottage was cosy and just what we needed. Village close by with a co op for easy shopping. Waldor castle nearby was nice to visit. Loads of local walks and local pubs to explore. If travelling with children, take boardgames and maybe a dvd player just to give them something extra to amuse themselves with.
Family wedding at St John The Baptist Church was fabulous. We enjoyed Beatons Tea Shop & The Boot Inn very much. Odette salon was excellent. Co-Op was very useful. Free public car park only 2 minutes walk from centre with public toilets nearby. A charming English county village.
Good location for visiting surrounding areas. Close enough to visit the coast but surrounded by beautiful countryside. Lots to see and do. The local pub “The Royal Oak” served great food and was only a short walk from the B & B.
Tisbury is accessible by train - the village is a short, pleasant walk from the small mainline station. Messum's Wiltshire is an easy stroll from the station but to reach The Compasses Inn, The Beckford Arms and Pyt House Kitchen Garden etc, it is advisable to have a car.

The room was huge and perfect, as was the breakfast....George and Sue were so lovely, they treated us as if we had been friends for years.
Excelent location on a horse farm. Great accomodation.
