The George Hotel is a 16th-century coaching inn situated in the center of the historic market town of Wallingford. With seasonal bistro dining, it is also a 20 minute drive from Oxford. Excellent large room with everything i needed, large bed, bath and hot radiator on all during my stay, which was rerally appreciated after a wet afternoon walking along the Thames footpath.
Located in Wallingford, 16 miles from University of Oxford, The Springs Resort & Golf Club has accommodations with a restaurant, free private parking, a fitness center and a bar. everything! What a place, there’s few experiences that can exceed your expectations from start to finish but this is one of them. Only 4 weeks after a renovation everything should be ship shape but the attention to detail shows in every corner. You need to check this place out, it’s amazing.
Located in Wallingford, The Coachmakers Arms has free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a restaurant, a bar and water sports facilities. The bed and breakfast has a terrace. Great place to stay, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good too, and Lynne is a lovely host!
Located in Wallingford, within 16 miles of University of Oxford and 20 miles of Notley Abbey, Garden Room, The Meadows, Oakley Court provides accommodations with a garden and free WiFi throughout the... The garden room was ideal for my needs, it's actually not that small, and you have everything you could need. It is warm and sparking clean and has a good sized shower and usable bathroom. The WiFi was good. The room has a tiny fridge and microwave, I brought food for one night and all was good.
Just a 20-minute drive from Oxford, and 6 min drive from The Crazy Bear Stadhampton. Warborough B&B offers high-quality accommodations in a luxurious architect-designed home. Everything, particularly the well cooked and varied breakfast menu and the charming hostess.
Located in Wallingford, The Chilterns View provides spacious accommodations with free WiFi access throughout and on-site private parking free of charge. My wife and I have just finished our weekend break, we absolutely loved it, we are already looking at rebooking! Thankyou very much.x
Wallingford is a beautiful Oxfordshire "Market Town", lots of things to do and see. Example, the town has brilliant Music Festival, BunkFest...but, do not stay at the George Hotel if you like to be able to sleep! So much noise, 'til past 2 am, that we had to abandon our weekend.
Wallingford as a town is beautiful. Lots of lovely little shops and restaurants. We walked along the river which was beautiful. Gorgeous church in the square and most people were really friendly.
Small picturesque village. I only managed a 90 minute walk. I wished I could have stayed longer and explore some of the beautiful views I saw. Although there is a main road through the village, it is not busy. But it does make the village easily accessible, and a good location for a base to explore the surrounding countryside.
We had gone to meet friends at the annual music event "Rokefest" but did pop into Wallingford a couple of times to buy food for our simple self-catering accommodation. There is a Lidl and a Waitrose, and on the Friday a very lovely market in the town. Wallingford has a good variety of other shops, cafes etc (we particularly liked Mollie's cafe) and there is a good riverside walk along the Thames. We parked in a large car park by the river and found the prices extremely reasonable, although they do go up a bit in high season.
We only visited Wallingford for approx 2 hours. We walked along the Thames path and had lunch (coffee and sandwiches) in Waitrose. Amazed by the number of red kites flying around. Will definitely visit again
Love Wallingford I lived there until 1972. Eat at the Indian restaurant which was good value for money and staff friendly and helpful. The Indian is on the other side of the road from the George hotel. Great castle and many places to walks.
Great location, right on the Thames, very easy access to Wallingford and the town amenities. Regular buses to Oxford a bonus, as we did not need to use the car at all during our trip. Hosts were very nice, lots of lovely touches in the room, including a bottle of Prosecco! Very comfortable room with plenty of storage, and we had access to a beautiful summer house, perfect for reading and watching the boats go up the river.
I arrived in the evening Dec 2021, it was difficult to see and to find it, got lost several times. The room was beautiful and the instructions from the owner really helpful, but the room was a bit chilly (being a garden room it's harder to heat). Being only a few miles from Wallingford, I expected I could walk in, but the road has no pedestrian walk and it is a fast road.
The staff are wonderful and offered a very warm welcome as soon as I walked in the door. The room was great with a very comfortable bed. The shower was strong and hot. The dinner menu was limited, but the pizza was great. Breakfast was very good with great sausages. I would love to stay in the hotel again.
Breakfast was excellent and staff very polite and efficient. Room lovely, clean, private and quiet. Location wonderful. Plenty of room for parking. Was good that if you are staying at the hotel, the pay and display charges are not applicable.
Very clean and tidy top floor room with Private Bathroom, Hosts Sue and Brendon made us feel very welcome and a nice touch with the continental breakfast. Only a 5 min walk to the heart of Wallingford so top notch for that 👍
Fantastic hotel and amazing staff who made us both feel very welcome. Faye went over and above, recommending and booking a table for us at a local restaurant where the food was incredible. Will definitely be returning!!
All member of staff were very friendly. We cycled to the hotel. They kindly stored our bikes in their secured wine shed. Great shower especially after long cycle. Good service at dinner. We enjoyed food!!
the hotel was really very nice the rooms were comfortable
