The George Hotel is a 16th-century coaching inn situated in the center of the historic market town of Wallingford. With seasonal bistro dining, it is also a 20 minute drive from Oxford. Excellent large room with everything i needed, large bed, bath and hot radiator on all during my stay, which was rerally appreciated after a wet afternoon walking along the Thames footpath.
Located in Wallingford, 2.1 miles from Wallingford Castle, The Springs Resort & Golf Club has accommodations with a restaurant, free private parking, a fitness center and a bar. everything! What a place, there’s few experiences that can exceed your expectations from start to finish but this is one of them. Only 4 weeks after a renovation everything should be ship shape but the attention to detail shows in every corner. You need to check this place out, it’s amazing.
Located in Wallingford, an 11-minute walk from Wallingford Castle, Thames Edge Rooms has accommodations with a garden, free private parking and a terrace. Guests can enjoy garden views. Stunning location with luxurious room where the host had thought of every possible detail.
Located in Wallingford, The Coachmakers Arms has free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a restaurant, a bar and water sports facilities. The bed and breakfast has a terrace. Really friendly and welcoming. Accommodated us with a young baby. Helped with keeping food warm and getting a cot in the room. Lovely property, newly refurbished. Clean and warm. :)
Just a 20-minute drive from Oxford, and 6 min drive from The Crazy Bear Stadhampton. Warborough B&B offers high-quality accommodations in a luxurious architect-designed home. The landlady was easy to talk to and was friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was what I had expected with everything cooked just to my liking. The room was clean & tidy. Balcony not used as raining.
Located in Wallingford, 2.7 miles from Wallingford Castle, Garden Room, The Meadows, Oakley Court provides accommodations with a garden and free private parking. This was a warm, private, extraordinarily clean, and beautifully well-looked after room that made my business travel extremely comfortable. Highly highly recommend! I absolutely loved it.
We only visited Wallingford for approx 2 hours. We walked along the Thames path and had lunch (coffee and sandwiches) in Waitrose. Amazed by the number of red kites flying around. Will definitely visit again
Love Wallingford I lived there until 1972. Eat at the Indian restaurant which was good value for money and staff friendly and helpful. The Indian is on the other side of the road from the George hotel. Great castle and many places to walks.
This is a very Busy country town with lots to see . Very pleasant old centre of town , Easy parking in the centre but pricey , Lots of pubs and café , Restaurants need to book for the evening ? Out side the town good places to visit and check out the great country side (The Whittingham clumps)and very near Oxford !
The river was great. Plenty of activity and the chance to hire small boats. Plenty of ducks, swans and geese. There were abundant eating places and Wallingford is close to Reading and Oxford. We were also able to park and purchase groceries with ease. Wallingford has retained character.
Apart from it being where our son & family live, it's a delightful small town with a great deal of character, sitting on the banks of the Thames. Lovely countryside nearby & not too far from Oxford & Henley with charming lesser-known towns like Thame & Dorchester close by, plus the beautiful beechwood-topped Chiltern Hills with the white chalk cross above the ancient village of Whiteleaf (where I lived as a small child). It's a beautiful part of England, with plenty to see and do. I wouldn't describe it as 'exciting' scenery - (no mountains!), but hugely comforting and relaxing, especially if you take a trip on the Thames flowing through peaceful countryside.
Wallingford is a very attractive town with several interesting historical sites, the castle ruins are particularly interesting and beautiful, and there are several old churches. There are lovely river views from the bridge. A short walk from the town centre you can see the house where Agatha Christie lived. There are several nice cafes and some interesting shops, including a good independent bookshop. There is even an outdoor swimming pool, a rarity nowadays,
I arrived in the evening Dec 2021, it was difficult to see and to find it, got lost several times. The room was beautiful and the instructions from the owner really helpful, but the room was a bit chilly (being a garden room it's harder to heat). Being only a few miles from Wallingford, I expected I could walk in, but the road has no pedestrian walk and it is a fast road.
Had an very relaxing, 2 night stay at this very smart, immaculately presented room at this lovely spot on the Thames. Excellent hosts, had thought of many neat little touches as described in other reviews, and all the information you could want. Excellent, historic small town of Wallingford, 5 minutes walk, and a good base for exploring the area.
The staff are wonderful and offered a very warm welcome as soon as I walked in the door. The room was great with a very comfortable bed. The shower was strong and hot. The dinner menu was limited, but the pizza was great. Breakfast was very good with great sausages. I would love to stay in the hotel again.
The young hosts were exceedingly friendly and helpful. The hotel was in a perfect location for our needs -- right in the centre of Wallingford and close to the river, shops and amenities. The tea and coffee making facilities were very welcome. The pub had a good range of beers and a nice sunny beer garden.
I didn't buy breakfast - loved the location! very central, easy to find and get around, close to restaurants and grocery room was lovely, all the comforts of a more expensive hotel, but i believe this was very reasonably priced - great value!
Very clean and tidy top floor room with Private Bathroom, Hosts Sue and Brendon made us feel very welcome and a nice touch with the continental breakfast. Only a 5 min walk to the heart of Wallingford so top notch for that 👍
Very convenient for Wallingford town centre. Very comfortable apartment, unusual boutique style with Agatha Christie references. Friendly, helpful host. Courtyard garden which would be lovely in the summer.
Super friendly receptionist; setting and tables by the river are amazing; easy to find; quiet even though close to road. Would return even though we believe the hotel has seen better days.
The hotel was lovely and the staff were kind and helpful.
