Love Wallingford I lived there until 1972. Eat at the Indian restaurant which was good value for money and staff friendly and helpful. The Indian is on the other side of the road from the George hotel. Great castle and many places to walks.
This is a very Busy country town with lots to see . Very pleasant old centre of town , Easy parking in the centre but pricey , Lots of pubs and café , Restaurants need to book for the evening ? Out side the town good places to visit and check out the great country side (The Whittingham clumps)and very near Oxford !
The river was great. Plenty of activity and the chance to hire small boats. Plenty of ducks, swans and geese. There were abundant eating places and Wallingford is close to Reading and Oxford. We were also able to park and purchase groceries with ease. Wallingford has retained character.
Apart from it being where our son & family live, it's a delightful small town with a great deal of character, sitting on the banks of the Thames. Lovely countryside nearby & not too far from Oxford & Henley with charming lesser-known towns like Thame & Dorchester close by, plus the beautiful beechwood-topped Chiltern Hills with the white chalk cross above the ancient village of Whiteleaf (where I lived as a small child). It's a beautiful part of England, with plenty to see and do. I wouldn't describe it as 'exciting' scenery - (no mountains!), but hugely comforting and relaxing, especially if you take a trip on the Thames flowing through peaceful countryside.
Wallingford is a very attractive town with several interesting historical sites, the castle ruins are particularly interesting and beautiful, and there are several old churches. There are lovely river views from the bridge. A short walk from the town centre you can see the house where Agatha Christie lived. There are several nice cafes and some interesting shops, including a good independent bookshop. There is even an outdoor swimming pool, a rarity nowadays,
A lovely historic town with lots of old buildings close to the A34 and M4 for easy access. Plenty of places to eat and drink, a museum, and right on the River Thames within 50 mts from hotel where you can hire small electric cruisers. On a Friday the town holds a small market with high quality fruit, vegetable and cake stalls. The town can be buzzing at night so can be a little noisy but adds to the character.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Julie and Rob, our hosts we very helpful and friendly. The location was very tranquil and set in beautifully maintained grounds and countryside, yet only a short car journey to the amenities of Wallingford. The Garden Room was very clean and beautifully decorated with useful facilities such as a mini fridge, microwave and kettle. I would definitely recommend the garden room.

Tim and Annie were the perfect hosts. We were given a very warm welcome and fascinating information about Wallingford. We took the 40 minute walk along the Thames to a wonderful tea room, as suggested by Annie. The room is beautifully appointed, stylish, exceptionally comfortable bed and everything planned to give a perfect stay. We hope to come again.
