Located between Oxford and Henley, this hotel features beautiful views over a quiet part of the River Thames. Guests can enjoy the restaurant and bar and free parking. I live in Newcastle and my partner is from Oxford so we come down quite often and I can safely say this is the place we will be staying every time now. The staff are so friendly, the rooms are comfy and clean and you couldn’t get a better location! That view 😍
The George Hotel is a 16th-century coaching inn situated in the center of the historic market town of Wallingford. With seasonal bistro dining, it is also a 20 minute drive from Oxford. Very clean. Modern facilities but keeping old features. Centre of town. Amazing food. Lovely staff. Managed COVID situation well.
Boasting a bar, garden, terrace and free WiFi, The Coachmakers Arms is located in Wallingford, 2297 feet from Wallingford Castle. Such a warm welcome from Lynn at the coachmakers arms and lovely friendly dog beau. We had a sharing platter and pizza really yummy as was breakfast. Comfy bed and room nicely decorated. A home from home atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
Offering free WiFi and city views, D&E Homestay is an accommodations located in Wallingford. Set less than 0.6 mi from Wallingford Castle, the property offers a garden and free private parking. Danny has a lovely property, spotlessly clean, good parking next to the property, comfortable bed in a spacious room. The bathroom was large and clean with a nice heated towel rail taking the chill of the room. Perfectly located for a quick walk into town or the river. All in all with had a perfect relaxing 4 days for the start of our tiki tour of the UK.
Located in Wallingford, The Town Arms features free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a restaurant, a bar and a garden. Wallingford Castle is 328 feet from The Town Arms. Perfect location - a view of the Thames from my room. And nice and quiet, even on a Friday night. Good breakfast and friendly staff. The rooms have been refurbished and are really very nice.
Just a 20-minute drive from Oxford, and 6 min drive from The Crazy Bear Stadhampton. Warborough B&B offers high-quality accommodations in a luxurious architect-designed home. The landlady was easy to talk to and was friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was what I had expected with everything cooked just to my liking. The room was clean & tidy. Balcony not used as raining.
Located in Wallingford, 2.7 mi from Wallingford Castle, Garden Room, The Meadows, Oakley Court provides accommodations with a garden and free private parking. The garden room was ideal for my needs, it's actually not that small, and you have everything you could need. It is warm and sparking clean and has a good sized shower and usable bathroom. The WiFi was good. The room has a tiny fridge and microwave, I brought food for one night and all was good.
Boasting garden views, Forge House offers accommodations with a terrace and a kettle, around 984 feet from Wallingford Castle. The location was perfect. There were plenty of shops nearby. Central location. The place was beautifully decorated throughout and very clean. My mum loved the fact that forge house was all on the level and on the ground floor as she has difficulty managing stairs.
Apart from it being where our son & family live, it's a delightful small town with a great deal of character, sitting on the banks of the Thames. Lovely countryside nearby & not too far from Oxford & Henley with charming lesser-known towns like Thame & Dorchester close by, plus the beautiful beechwood-topped Chiltern Hills with the white chalk cross above the ancient village of Whiteleaf (where I lived as a small child). It's a beautiful part of England, with plenty to see and do. I wouldn't describe it as 'exciting' scenery - (no mountains!), but hugely comforting and relaxing, especially if you take a trip on the Thames flowing through peaceful countryside.
Wallingford is a very attractive town with several interesting historical sites, the castle ruins are particularly interesting and beautiful, and there are several old churches. There are lovely river views from the bridge. A short walk from the town centre you can see the house where Agatha Christie lived. There are several nice cafes and some interesting shops, including a good independent bookshop. There is even an outdoor swimming pool, a rarity nowadays,
A lovely historic town with lots of old buildings close to the A34 and M4 for easy access. Plenty of places to eat and drink, a museum, and right on the River Thames within 50 mts from hotel where you can hire small electric cruisers. On a Friday the town holds a small market with high quality fruit, vegetable and cake stalls. The town can be buzzing at night so can be a little noisy but adds to the character.
We ate at the Shellfish Cow which was superb. Area is very charming. Our hotel, the Shillingford Bridge Hotel was in a lovely location but was horrible, uncomfortable, rundown and not very clean. Spend your hard earned cash at a different hotel.
Small town with good selection of town centre shops and pubs, perfect to wander around with no real plan. Local heritage railway and old river bridge for anyone interested in the history of the place. Easy access into Didcot and Oxford with regular express buses.
Friendly and efficient service from all staff.Spacious and clean rooms and good choice and quality of breakfast options.Just needed to open window in room as heating quite high ! Local village was close by and set in beautiful location .
