The resort itself is on the most beautiful oceanfront property, with steep cliffs right into the sea. The grounds had a pool (including an indoor pool with a slide for little kids), a huge playground and mini golf. It was so fun and great for our whole family.

Whithorn doesn't really have any facilities for a great vacation. Only 1 restaurant was open (sandwich £10) , there was only 1 small grocery shop with limited fresh foods. You will need a car to visit the local sights of interest. Expect a long walk from the car park, the cave was over a mile away from the car park. Beautiful scenery, lots of farmland and open spaces. Local bus services not very frequent. Wigton has probably more to do than Whithorn.

The accommodation was clean, spacious and very comfortable.

The accommodation was clean, spacious and very comfortable. It was very quiet. It was very convenient for the local attractions. We loved the Isle of Whithorn and Port Patrick. We went to the Mull of Galloway and climbed the lighthouse - a bit of an effort but well worth it. Whithorn is a Dark Sky area and we were fortunate enough to have clear skies on our first night, so we sat outside at the picnic table with a few drinks, star-gazing.

The town is very friendly and welcoming to visitors, barely a person walks by you in the street without saying hello. For a small town it is well equipped with 3 convenience stores, a take away, bar & restaurant, and the local visitor attractions. The ruins of the prior and iron age roundhouse are situated at the centre of the town with a museum for the priory positioned in front of it, and another museum run by the Whithorn Trust on the main street. Unfortunately myself and my wife never visited the museums due to having our dog with us, though you can walk around the priory area, although at the moment it is fenced off due to structural works ongoing.

Everything was there as far as shops, food , history and walks! Beautiful place although some homes are empty and neglected noticed that renovation and rejuvenation of the village was in process. The people were friendly and helpful. The Railway Inn had a be wee beautiful restaurant (family run) with amazing food. The Central Cafe doubled as fish and chip shop , ice cream , ordinary tea/coffee shop and dinner snacks etc

Very cosy bungalow, nice layout. This is a clean and inviting location, and if you have a dog, they are exceptionally welcoming with little treats and snuggly blankets. I was charmed by the beautiful decor of the lovely listed building with accessible WiFi in every room and a Fire TV you could link your devices to. Great location for visiting the Whithorn Trust Museum, where I was visiting. I met the hosts Tracy and Jonny, who were very attentive and gave me some local information to enhance my stay, which was fabulous.

We stayed for a week and had plenty of time to explore the local museum (you have to do the roundhouse tour), the Isle of Whithorn, the cliffs with the singing seals, Wigtown, the beach at Garlieston... all on foot and by public bus. No mass tourism, everyone is super friendly and accommodating.

The homemade granola was absolutely delicious and the biscuits a lovely touch to arrive to. We wanted to be in Whithorn because we have relatives there but it’s also a perfect location to tour that part of the country.
