The hotel is decorated really well. Clean and tidy. Pub downstairs is large and friendly and rooms upstairs are separated by a card access door. Staff were all very nice. Food in the pub was great as was the Guinness.

It's a small sleepy town. Although it has everything you need. But not much Indian restaurants and one caution the town get completely dead by 9 PM in summers and by 5 PM in winters u won't get anything after that it's not safe to travel alone at night.. otherwise it all great

Wigan has always been a decent night out, we had arrived a little bit too late to go out into the city centre, so we decided to just get our head down and have an early-ish night, getting into the room, I noticed that somebody had been sick quite recently on the carpet of the room we were staying in as it still hadn’t been cleaned up, I would definitely think about not staying in that accommodation like this again

The place I lived in for the first 30 years of my life till 41 years ago is a depressing town to walk around that is losing its character to yet another go at modern development. Too many derelict shuttered buildings. The only town with a bypass that runs through the centre of it!

Wigan is under redevelopment at present, a reaction I suppose to the changing shopping habits of people. The town is no better or worse than many others I visit, but it does look like Wigan has taken action to reintroduce housing to the town centre which should bring with it a shopping and eating revival. My access to restaurants was limited as I arrived on a Tuesday. I was recommended a particular restaurant as being one of the best in the town. It was fine and the staff were wonderful, but I wasn't told when I booked (in person) that the only option was the pre-fixe menu, the a la carte wasn't available on Tuesday. I was there to meet with friends so the overall ambience of the town was less important, but I feel that Wigan is a town that isn't there yet but is trying to get there and will be a great place to visit when the redevelopment is complete.
Room was clean with everything you need, tea coffee, extra pillows and towels, ironing board and iron etc. Well kitted out and the size of the family room was huge, see pic.
You can't beat the prices in weatherspoons so great for a few drinks then straight upstairs to bed. Close to wigan town centre. Free parking if you register car when checking in. Staff are helpful and pleasant.
we has used the mount for years as an easy location to get to where we wanted to go in Wigan and the surrounding areas. Very close to the M6 easy to get to.
