All the staff were really helpful, friendly and professional and down-to-earth. They were very understanding and accommodating of our late arrival to check in. The room was massive and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in - had an amazing and refreshing night's sleep! The hotel was immaculate and spotless throughout with modern furnishings and lots of space. The breakfast was really good quality too, with lots to choose from! Free WiFi was a real help too.

We came to Wigan to take part in an ASA registered swimming event. Wigan has an excellent Short course pool (25 m). The city's club "Wigan Best" where excellent host's. We have visited the city on numerous occasions and always been welcomed.
Wigan is a good point of location to use as a central base if you want to travel to surrounding areas. You have lots of public transport available including being really close to two of our great cities - Manchester and Liverpool. I also managed to get a day trip to Cardiff and there were options to easily get as far as York and Leeds for day trips it you wanted to travel north.
Visited the Edge conference centre for the Elvis tribute concert, Ben Portsmouth he was amazing, it was a brill night. The venue however a bit of a let down because there was no draught lager and the bottles were quite pricey £3.60 each so it worked out £7.20 for a pint.
Plenty of shop to browse in and didn't have to walk to far to do this. People very friendly and happy to show you how to find places if you get lost. Easy to find a taxi when needed at night that didn't cost the earth.
We loved the wholly pedestrianised centre, excellent arcades, shops, real ale pubs, and a stunning park just minutes from the centre. There are great bus and train links. We visited four of the seven pubs in the Good Beer Guide, all within minutes of each other. And a great bakery selling very cheap bread, cakes and sandwiches.
We went specifically to see a solo artiste in concert. To be fair, on the second day found travelling to Crosby for Atony Gormley's ‘Another Place’ and time in Southport very convenient. However , Wigan is not a place to attract the casual traveller. Sorry!
