I gave The Newport Inn a 10 because, for me, it was simply wonderful and almost exactly how I had imagined a perfect Scottish inn experience. There is something very special about spending the evening in a proper local pub and then simply walking upstairs to your beautiful room at the end of the night. It felt cosy, authentic and incredibly charming. Everything was spotless, and our room had been decorated with so much care. The furniture was beautiful and every little detail and accessory seemed to have been thoughtfully chosen. We were also incredibly lucky with the atmosphere that evening. There was a fantastic Greek street-food stall just outside the inn, and later we enjoyed live jazz in the pub. Great food, live music, lovely people and a delicious pint — it really couldn't have been a better first evening in Scotland. The location is also beautiful, right by the River Tay, where you can hear the water and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Just a few minutes' walk away, we also found a gorgeous little bakery where we had brunch the following morning and enjoyed a fantastic traditional Scottish breakfast. Finally, both the owner and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. It was warm, romantic and full of character — exactly the kind of Scottish experience I had been dreaming of. We absolutely loved it.
