it was fun in the minimal Scandinavian design. large room with wonderful bath. the location was the best of all. across the street from the Museum Park, which was a cut through to the old town. the park was in full bloom with spring flowers and home people and animal alike from9am-6pm. the fridge was stocked with a great assortment of beer and soft drinks.

England Through The Ages
Although abounding in reminders of the past, York is very much a city for the here and now, with excellent shops, bars and restaurants, many along the River Ouse. Surrounding it are the medieval city walls – the longest and best preserved in England – and many of the gates that once allowed access to the city.
Walk the walls for wonderful views towards the city and towering York Minster. Standing proud on a hill, this cavernous church is the seat of the Archbishop of York, the 2nd highest position in the Church of England.
A little south is The Shambles, a narrow street with medieval buildings that now house quaint shops. Going further back in time is the Jorvik Centre, a fascinating museum showcasing the city’s Viking remains. You can even have a go at archaeology yourself at the DIG excavation pits, with replica finds from York’s Roman, Viking, medieval and Victorian eras.
Other York attractions include the National Railway Museum, home to the Flying Scotsman and Mallard trains. Around 30 minutes’ drive away is Castle Howard, a stately home with over 1000 acres of grounds.
Leeds-Bradford Airport is the nearest airport, and there is a great range of hotels, B&Bs and guest houses in York and the outskirts available on Booking.com.

Liten fin stadskärna med gångavstånd till de flesta sevärdheter. Vi besökte Jorvik Vikingacenter, Katedralen, Yorkshire Museum, Kastellet. Vi tog också 2 vandringar med Free Tours vilka var väldigt bra och innehållsrika. Rekommenderas varmt

Lagom stort. Mycket historiskt kring både vikingarnas och romarnas tid i staden. Klassiska Bettys caféer är fantastiska och värda ett besök. Gott om bra restauranger såväl italienska som franska och engelska.

York är stolta över sin historia och de är duktiga på att berätta om den. Centrum, både inom och utanför ringmuren, är kompakt och det mesta är inom gångavstånd. På sommaren finns det många aktiviteter och parkerna är underbara. Gott om pubar, caféer och restauranger. Jag har en känsla av att resten av året inte är lika turistvänligt och York passar nog inte familjer med mindre barn särskilt bra - egentligen bäst för par (?)

Den gamla stadsdelen var otrolig med sina smala gator och husen var som att förflytta sig 200 år bakåt i tiden. Vi åt på en vegetarisk restaurang, GOJI, med mycket bra mat. Mängder med trevliga pubar.

Man går till York Castle på drygt fem minuter, och sedan har man Yorks fantastiska stadskärna precis framför sig. Jag kan verkligen rekommendera det här stället. Det har fått nya ägare, som bara har drivit det i några veckor (april 2023).
