Breakfast was wonderful - huge variety, and plenty of everything, even with tour groups descending on the breakfast room. The pool was beautiful, and the perfect temperature. So nice to have drink/food service poolside!
The air conditioner was on the fritz our first night, and we were sweltering. However, we spoke to management, and whatever was done seemed to solve the problem, and quickly. 2nd night was much more comfortable!

Stayed in the quieter village of Kastraki but drove the short distance to adjoining larger town of Kalabaka to see the 11c Byzantine church.
The busier streets of Kalabaka are not overwhelming and offer a contrast to the gentler vibe of Kastraki.
Kalabaka is a commercial centre with busy streets and cafes, some of which continue the improper practice of caging songbirds for the ‘interest’ of customers!
We were pleased we stayed in Kastraki at the Doupiani House Hotel and appreciated the evening strolls through quiet jasmine-scented streets, where we were occasionally accompanied by wandering tortoises or inquisitive local cats.

Meteora was by far, one of our favorite places in Greece.
Meteora was by far, one of our favorite places in Greece. The landscape is unique and amazingly beautiful. The monasteries are incredible pieces of architecture, and the little churches inside, are real jewels of Byzantine art. The sites are really crowded and parking is not easy (and this was in May!!!) also, the churches are so small that sometimes queuing is necessary in order to access them. Even though we checked previously and carefully the opening times, two of the six monasteries could not be visited without any apparent reason, which was very inconvenient for us. The whole region is dedicated to tourism so great hotels and restaurants are everywhere.

The monasteries are lovely but the public transport (bus) to move around them is limited if you only want to visit one or two. Our time was limited so we took the 9am bus up to the main meteron monastery and walked down to Varlaam and Rossenou (St Barbara) convent. We were finished here by 12 but had to walk back to Kalambaka as there was no bus until 14:30 and we had a bus to catch for our onward journey. We walked down to Kastraki and had a quick bite and walked on to Kalambaka. It was an easy walk and took about 40 mins but this was in April so not too hot.

Kalabaka is a city with traditional houses and Meteora is very close. You can visit some of the monasteries. We went to the museum of physical history with animals and birds that lived there, which was very nice, to the mushroom museum and to the digital projection center of Meteora's history and culture. The food also was excellent.
The location is really perfect. Now that I visited Meteora, I know that it’s better to avoid noisy Kalabaka and stay to the lovely village of Kastraki.
Meteora have two entrances. One of them is from the side of the city (Kalabaka) and the other to Kastraki.
To be really honest I prefer the entrance of the village :)
The hotel is really clean, quiet with lovely breakfast and helpful employees.
I don’t know what more do you need;))
So among others, I highly recommend this hotel and especially the village!
I did like everything about this hotel
This is a very small hotel running by family.
Situated in the center, close to downtown with the beautiful views on Meteora.
Rooms are beautifully decorated with lots of shelves and BOOKS which really attracted me.
I did fill like home, pity I didn't have enough time to read them.
I could give 11 out of 10 for cleanliness.
This same number for the friendly and very helpful stuff.
If I return to Kalabaka I will book this hotel again.
This is a really nice hotel with a short walk from Kastraki with lovely facilities. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with all you need. The breakfast was good and the staff very helpful and pleasant, give them a pay rise.
The pool will blow you away with a fabulous view of the Meteora mountains, just gorgeous.
Spacious and comfortable room with view towards Meteora. The location is good - far enough from the town centre to be peaceful but a manageable walk to the restaurant area. Easy parking.
We were given a helpful map by the hotel to get us started. For greater detail others may find this map helpful too.
Just 10 minutes walk from the station, the hotel ovelooks the beautiful Meteora mountains and there are lots of tavernas around. The staff was extremely gentle and efficiant. I surely come back next time in Kalabaka!
