Tiny resort but a great beach, pale soft sand, and some decent places to eat. Looks a bit tired in parts. Apparently it’s often windy on the north side of the island, so sea was quite rough, but as we went late April we probably saw it at its worst. Really close to the airport so nice quick transfer & we didn’t notice the planes at all during our stay. Also only 15/20 mins drive to Antimachia Castle and other beaches. We spent 2 nights here and it was enough as the weather wasn’t nice enough to sunbathe so we moved around the island.

Lovely sleepy fishing town turned mini tourist village without being too touristy. Beach was full of seaweed but not sure if that was a symptom of the end of the season. The bars and restaurants along the beach were lovely, and the little lanes of shops too.

Mastichari was a short ride by public bus from the Horizon Beach Resort where we were staying. The little town has souvenir shops and a very nice beach. It is a pleasant place to have a drink in one of the taverns along the beach.

Masichari is a delightful village of good size. The harbour area and beach are stunning and an easy walk to the bars, tavernas, supermarkets and gift shops. I ate at 6 different tavernas, all good but think my favourite is the Traditional House as I went there twice. Although I had a car that was used to see places further afield, one would not be required if staying in the village. Having the harbour, a boat trip to nearby Kalimnos is a good alternative.

DEFINITELY NOT A 4-STAR EXPERIENCE: We chose this hotel to be sure of good WiFi for completing Passenger Locator Forms pre-departure. Unfortunately to use it in the room needs a special code which has to be repeatedly inserted - or else sit out in the lobby to do it! Certainly not a 4-star experience! Any complaint receives an offensive response from the man on Reception, who clearly needs retraining in Guest Relations!!

Beautiful sandy beach with comfortable beds and many beachside restaurants. I would particularly recommend Palatiano. Close to the port, good ferry connection to Kalymnos. Convenient bus connections to the airport and town. Plenty of well-stocked shops.
