Located 328 feet away from Grammeno beach, Megim offers free transportation around the area and free sun beds and umbrellas on the beach. The price was good and I liked the location out of town with a big, Long Beach for walking. The room was compact and simple, but clean and comfortable. There was onsite free parking. I liked the small balcony and views of the sea and countryside.

Located on the beachfront in Palaiochora, Sifis Studios has a terrace and free WiFi. This 2-star hotel offers luggage storage space. The hotel features family rooms. It’s spotless clean, the room is big, with super comfortable mattresses and across to the beach. Many great restaurants and an awesome bakery just steps away. I also must point out that it’s super silent and we could sleep like angels after exploring this beautiful region. We will definitely return to Palaiochora next season and Sifis Studios is, in my opinion, the best place to stay. Panos, the owner, is super friendly. We felt like home.

Hotel Agas is 170 yards from central Palaiochora and 100 yards from the sandy Pachia Ammos Beach. It offers rooms with mountain or sea views and has a snack bar. Pristine hotel, super beds, great staff. About 5 minute walk to either side of the village and so in a beautiful quiet spot. Toiletries were lovely, room very spacious and quite “boutique” in style. I’ve paid 5 times this price for similar rooms. Will definitely be back as Paleochora is my favourite village in Crete.

One of the most beautiful small town on Crete. With wonderful, long, sandy beach Pachia Ammos, nice buildings , friendly people everywhere, lot of tavernas and cafeteries. Good point to go for a walk and for trips by boat. With good level tourists :) Its important! And with loty of beautiful flowers: everywhere ;)
My husband and I have been coming to Paleochora for the last 20+ years, it's a great place especially for those who like walking, there's a ferry to take you to most places along the coast. The lovely thing is that because it's a small peninsula, there is a stony beach on one side and a long beautiful sandy beach on the other, with the town is the middle. The town closes off most of the traffic at night so that the tavernas can put their tables and chairs out. There isn't much for families with children, no water parks etc., Try the local wines, (Aspro) white wine, 4-6 euros for a half litre. The local bus to the capital Chania takes approx. 90 minutes, a lovely journey through the mountains. The local people are very friendly and helpful, most of them speak English,. There is also a great book shops selling maps of walks in and around the area. We hope you enjoy Paleochora as much as we have.
Walkable genuine greek town with historic castle ruins at the top of a hill with great views. Two beaches on either side of the peninsula and plenty of spots for food and drink. Supermarkets, bakeries and other amenities easily accessible by foot. In October the town was a mixture of European tourists, mostly Germans, and the resident population.
perfect location to also travel to other locations in this area of Crete, lots of things to do at night. The beach is perfect for sunset views and the sunbeams are for free in the evening. There are a lot of restaurants, cafes and bars around the city center and there's the option to also sit at the fortress on top of the city
We have returned to Palaiochora after several years, afraid that the pandemic had changed the pleasant, charming place: it did not. Everyone we met was extremely helpful and nice: we must recommend the Aristea restaurant - may there always be place for us - the Agios bar and cafe on the main street for drinks, as well as the Kyma restaurant next to the Chalikia beach and the Aunt and the As for beaches, both the Pachia Ammos and the Chalikia beaches are amazing with clean water and helpful staff: we could not choose between them and alternated... And - if you feel adventurous and/ or come to Palaiochora in the spring or the fall: mountain walks to Azogires, Anidri and the Turkish fort are not to be missed. (Just take enough water.)
Great town with lots of stuff to do! Several beaches in close proximity, plus ferry boat service right in town. Lots of good restaurants to choose from. Don’t miss the steaks at “Cape Crocodile” by the harbor, and the pizza at “Odessyus”. Lots of shopping opportunities, although the prices were definitely at tourist level during an August visit. It’s worth taking a drive up into the mountains surrounding the town for some spectacular scenery.
Palaiochora
The location could not be better, right in the center of town and short walk to the beaches. Our room and terrace overlooked a pretty little courtyard, nice and quiet for good sleeping, AC worked great. Our room was no frills but exceptionally clean and comfortable, it had everything we needed. Our host Maria was friendly and helpful, we loved the fresh homemade baked goods she brought us. Will definitely stay here next time we visit Palaiochora.
Palaiochora
Ostria Rooms is an excellent place to stay in Palaiochora, just across the road from the main beach, with a good bakery/cafe adjoining and a supermarket conveniently close by. It's just a short walk to the main streets of the town with lots of restaurants and tavernas and parking is provided on the premises. Maria was welcoming and helpful and was careful about the Covid requirements. Accommodation was clean and comfortable.
The breakfast was excellent. It offered a wide range of healthy, fresh options of locally produced food. The location was far enough away from the town centre to offer us peace and quiet, yet near enough to everything that we clould walk everywhere within 10 minutes. However, the best feature of The Aris Hotel are the people there, who offer a great service and are so friendly and genuinely helpful.
Palaiochora
The Hotel is well located close, to the beach, to bars and restaurants. Theo was a very welcoming host, gave us good tips and all the information we needed. The apartment was well equipped. We especially loved the balcony and the chill environment In general, the apartment is basic and not too fancy but a good value for money. It seems like this is the standard in Paleochora
Great hotel - perfect location, in a fantastic town. We enjoyed everything so much. The hotel was not that ‘Greek’ and a bit more like a city break hotel, but it was perfect for us to shower after a day at the beach or walking the gorge, and sleeping. Paleochora is brilliant - we will be back.
Palaiochora
The apartment was spacious and spotlessly clean. The balcony was huge, with a fantastic view, and plenty of seating options. The location was extremely central; easy to walk to shops, restaurants, and the beaches. The host, Nancy, was extremely helpful before and during our stay.
Well-run hotel with high standards of cleanliness and comfort in a quiet resort town retaining traditional Cretan friendliness and hospitality. Good base for gorge walking or just relaxing on the sandy beaches.
Palaiochora
Great location for everything; beach, town, tavernas, walking. Good quality breakfast choices to suit all tastes and the portions were more than ample. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful too.
