Skopelos town is not on a stunning beach ...but those beaches are a short car or bus ride away from here.Nevertheless, Skopelos Town is a beautiful spot. It is evident that the locals and perhaps some foreign investors as well take great pride in keeping their town clean, friendly, charming, and pretty. It is a real joy to wander through the streets of town, passing by neighbors chitchatting on the sidewalk or seeing some tourists (and locals) enjoying some traditional Greek music as they clap and dance along. I also thought the waterfront promenade is very idyllic, with dozens of restaurants spilling out onto the sidewalks to take in the mild evening air. The waterfront comes most alive after sunset, and I am so very glad I chose to visit .
Expensive restaurants (10-14 euros for a main meal), parking only at the harbor till 20:00 then it is usually full. Nice walk along the pier but the rest of the town is nothing special, there are other Greek islands offering cheaper services and are much nicer
Skopelos is a very beautiful island. The pine trees almost touch the sea! It is a quiet island, so if one is looking for a late night party reverie, this is not the place. It has numerous nice beaches, a lot of them easily accessible by bus, if one does not have a car. There are excursions organized by tour offices in town to some beaches that buses dot not go to. Limnonari is one of them, and we are glad we took that excursion. The only gripe I have about the beaches is the fact that they are almost fully covered by sunbeds (most likely illegally for that extend), so they seem busier than they actually were. This fact also takes something out from the natural beauty of the place. Speaking of law breaking, we heard that the most expensive hotel in the island has enclosed a beach to make it private, something totally illegal, but probably accommodated through some bribery. It helps also that this beach is one of hundreds in the island, so it is not really missed! Talking of negatives, let me add here the fact that they seem to clean only a narrow area in the town, leaving the rest totally untouchable by the cleaners. On our daily walk from the place we stayed to the town, we had the most disgusting encounter of a broken garbage container with half of its garbage lying nearby on the street! And that was by the beach! And, it stayed in that state throughout our week-long stay! Enough with the negatives. We had some nice food in the island, most notable was the dinner we had at Kyratso's, towards the end of the town seafront. Also notable is 'Magerako', a gourmet-like restaurant close to Agrina, albeit a bit more expensive than most island restaurants. I left for the end the highlight of our trip there: the excursion to Alonissos (a close-by island) with Argo (the boat); Eleni, the captain and the sailor(!) were excellent hosts that made that day memorable!
We visited before the start of the official tourist season. Still, we liked the absence of crowds; the quiet and tranquility. Lot's of excellent places to eat. Friendly and helpful locals. Public transport (especially the local buses) was not as regular. But taxis and car rentals were in abundance--and very reasonable in cost. Lots of places with excellent food...
What I like most of Skopelos Town was the place we found to stay after leaving the one we booked on booking.Takis and Sophie's was wonderful, right on the sea and the property was beautiful. Backed to green belt with amazing views of the sea and mountains. The owner was so very sweet and hospitable. Sophie went above and beyond to make our stay Great!!!! Definitely going back with our kids and grandchildren. Beautiful island, with so much to see or just hang out at the beautiful property.
Easily accessible, great food, beautiful pebble and sand beaches, some charge for umbrella, the greenest island with trees reaching the waterline. Had a really great time here and look forward to coming back again soon. Panormos beach was nice with everything accessible. Linarakia taverna had really amazing food. Definitely a must. Agios Ioannis, the Mama mia film location is a really great highlight of the island with quite a few steep steps to the church but it's worth it. Finally, the old town and all the little streets make it very graphical. Local cuisine is nice. Prices are affordable and distances are small with twists and turns in this very dense foresty island. Good public transport but few taxis. You need to rent a car or bike to get around easier but still accessible with public buses. A must visit island.
Just returned from Skopelos, we stayed at Rigas Hotel. I would ignore bad reviews about this Hotel and just book. Nice place with openhearted people. Very clean and spacious room (talking about the Studio they accommodated us). Mediterranean gardens and a cozy tea-room. Over all Rigas was a good base, nice and small but very homely. No complaints minor things but nothing can be perfect.
Amazing property with an even more amazing staff. The hotel is walking distance from the ferry and many delicious restaurants and stores. We enjoyed a whole day just being lazy by the pool. The view from the balcony is breathtaking. The breakfast is out of this world. This hotel made our stay in Skopelos unforgettable. Highly recommended!!!
Very comfortable rooms with balcony that looks out over the town and harbor. Delicious breakfast included every morning on larger patio/balcony with an even more beautiful view while soothing music plays in the background. This place is amazing I can’t recommend it enough for any kind of trip.

Our stay at Sunrise Village was wonderful. Spyridoula and the staff were amazing - hospitable, helpful and accommodating with our variable holiday schedule. Thank you! They even added an extra night to our stay at the same rate, in the same room, when we found we could get a ferry a day later than we thought. The apartment was spacious ,comfortable, both clean to begin, and cleaned every day! with lovely views of the sea and gardens. The swimming pool was sparkling clean and enjoyed by all.
