Casa Nostra has a restaurant, bar, a shared lounge and garden in Lívingston. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a grill. The staff was very accommodating and Stu (El Jefe) was a wealth of knowledge. He made several calls on our behalf to arrange various activities as well as track down my laundry. Everything is right there and it's a short walk to town (less than a city block.) We used the kayaks for free which was a blast. The pizza is the best in town as demonstrated by the boats dropping by to pick up their to-go orders. The room was clean and spacious. The A/C worked well.

The location is serene and peaceful. If you want to get away from the busy city, this is the place to go to. You need to take a ride on a boat in order to get there and in order to go anywhere, but that's what makes it unique. Their grounds have space to hang out and relax, go for a swim, and go kayaking. It is close enough to different locations to enjoy other places, like the beach, the town, caves, hot springs, etc. The owners are your hosts and make you feel like family. Lovely people. This was my second time there and I plan to go back!

Cabaña Rio Lagarto is located in Lívingston. Located on the beachfront, this property has a garden, barbecue facilities and free WiFi. We really loved to stay in this wooden cabin with the nice hammocks:) Patrick was super lovley he gave us always fresh water and also some small bananas which we're really good:) In my opinion its the perfect place for a couple of days relaxing at the carribean sea:) Its a little bit outside of the city but in 5min you can reach it with a tuktuk for 5qzt/person :) We also went one day to the siete Altares (some waterfalls with cool water) which is a one hour walk at the beach. For getting food there's a menu from which you can order simple and cheap food which they will then bring you directly to the place :) Or also brought some stuff for breakfast :) So you can make it there because there's a possibilty to cook water as well as dishes :) Definititly worth staying :)

It's a very interesting little town and it's really worth making sure that you go to the beach and part of town where the Garífuna community live. They seem rather excluded from the main benefits of tourism in the town which seems mainly owned by foreigners with Maya staff. I don't think the Garífuna benefit financially as much as they should from tourism. Try the restaurants over that side of town by the beach - Guamo Place was excellent for example.
Livingston has a peculiar magic!!! we loved the walk to 7 Altars. At the hotel Casa Rosada we take a tour across the river visiting the Canion, Tatin river, Aguas calientes, manatee sanctuary, some beautiful lagoons, we made nice two hours Canopy for Q125.00 and we stoped in Cayo Quemado Texan Mike restaurant and we swam there.....we had an unforgettable time!!!
Safe little town. Everyone seems very friendly. Sad that there is not more info and guidance into the original Garifundi culture unless you dig or start talking to some people. Not sure if it can be reached by land, but easiest is taking the boat from Porto Barrios. Eat at Margoth's - LA Mama (soups are great) and Mc Tropic (I loved the Tajadas).
You have to study how to get there. The local boat drivers are very lazy and try to get advantage from you. Try to get your travel all planed from Barrios there is a more formal boat service company there. Get their number and arrange for them to go and pick you up when you are ready to come back. If you try to use the service at Livingston´s pier nobody moves or cares at all that you are going to give the work to do. They stay laying on their backs and tell you that if you don´t pay them XXX which in our case was double for what we payed for getting there they won´t take you back. It was not until a Barrios boat came and was going back empty that the guy offered to take us back for the same Q.350 we had payed for getting there. (All this on a private boat)
When you find out the history of the Garífunas you will understand beter this Caribian place!! They have diferent ethnic grups like: Garífunas, Quekchis, Hindus, the first chinnese colony and in the cementery you can see German tombs. Livingston has cascades, white sand beaches, caves and rivers, it is a magical Caribean town. I recomend to visit this place. Belize is a 45 minutes, they have boats every day. To Honduras or the way to bay islands they have buses every day or shuttles. The tour on the river Rio Dulce it is amaizing!!! The third Tarzan movie was filmed in this river 1936
There are some great things about this place. The restaurant, though a little bit pricey, actually serves some great food. The hotel also has an excellent wooden shelter built on a jetty that goes into the ocean with hammocks set up which is a perfect place to read or drink a beer. It is literally on the beach. There are always tuktuks so getting there, even though it is a bit out of Livingston, is not too difficult.

Wow!!! Amazing hotel on the Rio Dulce river… the owners are a local family - Martha and Gerson (and three cute kids) are both really kind and friendly! You can take a kayak and sail in the river to his springs or a waterfall near by. The food that Martha Cooks is really good :) We really enjoyed this place and we highly recommend to come visit here and enjoy the birds, butterflies and the views 🦋🌺
One of the very best places in Livingston. From the moment you arrive, you are at home. The girls at the reception treat you like a friend. Amazing wildlife just in front of the hotel. The walk to the hotel along the shore is fun, as you are in the centre of Garifuna culture in Livingston. Great swimming pool area. Recommended.
This beautiful property is not far from the boat arrival point. There’s a beautiful view into the ocean, the restaurant is delicious, and you buy anything you need on site. Watching the sunrise from my bed was my favorite thing to do when not exploring Livingston
Stuart the owner is wonderful and so is the staff! We had an amazing stay! Great food, spacious rooms, A/C, solid WiFi, balcony was a big plus too! We really fell in love with Livingston here! We wish we could have stayed even longer!

I really liked this place and wish I had more time in Livingston to spend more than a night here. The place is really cute and the rooms and bathrooms were clean and the staff was friendly. A towel is included and the rooms have a fan.
The hotel garden & pool are beautiful! the location is awesome, right on the edge between Rio Dulce and the Caribbean sea with a great view of both from the garden and hotel rooms. The food in the restaurant is good.
